| the idea is good, but you could also just make one using a cone filter and some pieces of ducting, as per gnttype.org. I don't buy into the ram air thing. | |

| Don't we already have ram air? I think it's called a SUPERCHARGER! | |

| Exactly. The blower is capable of sucking in more than can be forced into the intake by moving air. The best ram air designs probably push less than a pound of boost.
To me, the above product is just a FWI with the filter located inside the engine bay. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| People seem to miss the fact that ram air's real benefit is that IAT is lowered dramatically if done well. I just remember someone on another forum saying that he calculated that you would need to be going 86mph for ram air to work. ummm.... so smart yet he couldnt see the blaringly obvious fact.... | |

| I don't think anyone here doubts you on this. Personally, I've seen IAT go sub-ambient after introducing outside air to the filter. Ram-air may not help with boost, but it creates a wind-chill effect on intake temps. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

I didnt want to imply that about anyone here either. It just fires me up when I hear people make fun of ram air. But it really should just be called a REAL cold air intake. Or a really really cold air intake.

| I still think someone needs to take an extra hood, cut a hole in it, and put a nice scoop on it over the front driver side. If I had the skills and tools, and spare hood, I'd do it. | |
