Yeah, the first pic reminds me of an SR-71 in the hanger.
I was thinking more along the lines of military vehicles that taped their headlights down to just little slits as to not be seen by the enemy. You can go with the blackbird though.

| isn't that where the blacked out head/tail lights originated? WWI or II? ...the civilians would black out the lights so the planes couldn't see the cities as well a night. i think it was more in Europe since thats where the bombing happened. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Eurolights arrived today. Now I can remove the duct tape! (installed them on my lunch. Took maybe 10 mins. Still amazed at how easy it is to do a head lamp change on this car!) Here's a pic. Not very blue, but very white, which is what I'm looking for! | For the price, these would be worth replacing once per year. I like the way they illuminate the street. And these things BLOW the SILVERSTARS AWAY in light output. I was thinking how can they be so much brighter? Easy answer: SilverStar wattage: 51W / Eurolights wattage: 80W!!!
Ever notice the difference between a 60W and 100W AC light bulb? That's the proportional difference we're talking about here. Now, will they last??? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| The 25W 12v halogen bulb in my desk lamp is hot enough to catch something on fire. It's enclosed behind a glass panel. I'm sure these do not run cool, whether they are OEM, 50W or 80W. I'm sure the headlight design has taken this into consideration.
The only real concern would be higher amperage draw. Since the fuse on the head lights must be rated lower than the wires/terminals used to power the bulbs, the fuse should blow before there are any danger of overheating. So far, no fuses blown, so I'm not worried. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

I believe that SAE requires that the headlamp housing be vented, just for this reason.

| Here's a video from in the car, foggy at night. They don't look that blue really, but whiter than lights of oncoming traffic:

| I use the philips cool blue lights. Can't argue, I got them for free. But I might look in to the Euro lights as the Philips are about as bright as the SS. | |

| for those of you that like silverstars, Sylvania has a model out now called silverstar ultras. they are a hair brighter but the thing is they last way longer. So thats kind of their answer to the problem. We sell em at my store for 48 a pair over the silverstars that are 38 a pair but for sure worth the money if you stick with em | |
