ok i think i've made my final decision...
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-RbQwfkxkKa1/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=113MP2035

anyone know anything about it? im open to any and all comments.
i can get it ebat for $93 shipped new. (i think its a fair deal)
it has more RMS power than my alpine had. (22 vs 18 happy )
i just hope it fits!
the manual says it is 182x53x155 (that is WxHxD in mm). it is 5mm shorter than the alpine i had (which broke b/c it was too deep and messed up the harness conections after 2 yrs of pressure from the dash.) but it say its 4mm wider than the alpine so do you think i will have any problems with that? can i use the same kit?
TIA
Matthew
p.s i have alpine type S speakers in the rear and infinity kappa's in the front. hope they sound just as good or better with the kenwood. will i notice the +4 RMS power difference?

ok i got it in the mail today and it is installed!!
only too a few hours to completly remove the dash, old unit, cut, strip, and crimp a thousand wires and put it all back together. i found out i had the deck kit too far up so i had to pull it all back apart and fix it. oh well, at least i didnt loose any screws or break any clips wink

it sounds just as good as the alpine, only it has more features! bluetooth,ipod/mp3 jack, mp3/cd/acc/wma player, 2 preouts, equilizer with presets (tho not as nice as alpines).

what i like the most is how it has a low pass filter for the front speakers so now i dont need bass blockers and the infinities dont distort.

the alpine had a illumination feature which would lower the light of the deck at night, the kenwood doesnt have that.
the kenwood also doent have a power antena 12v lead. (so when the radio is on, the antena stays down.) however, I get EVERY chanel!!! even with the ant. down, it picks up everything clearer than the alpine did with the ant. up!! figure that one out scratch

the 22 wats rms is on a different scale than that of most other players, but i would say its close to 16/18 rms that most others put out. looks great, fits well enough for the rivs small space and radio buttons still work great. its a little bit shorter than the alpine but its also a bit wider so the dash doen't snap down right under the player (but you cant notice it)

cliff notes; a great head unit, especially for the price. does everything you ask it to. if you want to spend the extra 100 bucks for the alpine name brand, go ahead but the kenwood plays just as nice and still looks classy.

Matthew

Awesome! Experimenting with the electronic high-pass on the fronts can make your music sound really good. Do you have choices of slope as well as frequency? Have any pics of the install?
