| Hi, first of all I am new to the Riviera forums, but I stumbled across this website oneday and it seems that you all love your cars as much as I love mine. So now im a member. My question is, I have a 1995 Riv in Bright White, the paint is....less than perfect, and i want to get it repainted in a black cherryish type of color, I wanted to know how much that would cost and where to get it done. Also my beautiful Dark Ruby Red A Pillar has a cigarette burn in it from a previous owner, how can i remedy that? | |

| Paint will cost nearly as much as your car if you want anything decent. $2-4000. Don't go to Earl Scheib or Maaco, they are notoriously bad. You have to research who does a good job in your area. It is work. You'll have to replace the A pillar piece. PM user Supercharged, he has a brother who works in a yard with a bunch of 95 Rivs - Linkedit - looking through the thread, he says the interiors on those cars are shot, but maybe the a pillar cover will be o.k.

| Paint is expensive no matter which way you look at it, theres alot of labor needed to have an exceptional paint job done, if you factor in the cost of any type of sandblasting, pain removal, minor body work, dent removal, all of these things and the cost of paint, BIG$$$
but dont get discouraged, you can go to freaking carstar with $1500-3500 and get a really good paint job. i paid $1775 for my Gloss black paint job this year from them and it came out dark and rich, the paint was smooth and looked knee deep, if you dont know any custom shops in VA, check them out if there are in your town.

| Well, I have found that there is a custom shop about 5 miles from where I live. I have been quoted a small fortune to repaint it in the Black Cherry that i like. But.....what if I just got the original bright white redone, can anyone show me a white riv that looks good, i havnt seen one that is jaw-dropping like some others. And thanks Jack the R, I'll pm him. | |

| The previous owner of my car must have had a minor fender bender. Looks like they took the passenger door skin off and put a new one on (probably not OEM) Well it's got some bubbling rust in the lower corner. Just surface rust. I paint over it with touch up... but I have the pearl coat so my white touch up looks like a....pimple I suppose.....
Anyone ever had their Riv touched up, or painted entirely? I wouldn't mind a whole paint job. But that pearl coat is so lovely, especially at night! I think I'd want to keep it that way!

| no sheet!
I'll have it done, until then I'll keep ahead of the rust bubbles. Going to get a small work car next year...so the Riv can then be painted. I have some contacts... Plus KC has a large hispanic population and there's several shops downtown (not being racist... the latinos have some nice paint shops, and my bro-in-law is latino..might get a good deal!)
Next year!
What I really want to do is find a Riv in the salvage yard, pearl white with a still good door & drivers seat... oh the dream!

| That Diamond White is EXTREMELY hard to blend and do a good job of it. I won't say it can't be done but I have been told it is difficult. The shop I took my Silver Arrow to did a very good job matching the Sterling Silver Metallic and that is a hard color to match too, there are some very fancy color matching systems out there now. That was the best thing they did, they finally got it close enough after my seventh trip to pick up the car! This is what I went through on the repaint of my Black ’95, lots and lots of fun. https://rivperformance.editboard.com/exterior-f12/write-up-paint-job-t707-30.htmEric is working on his right now and I’m sure he is having lots of fun too! | |

| What about the front and rear bumper covers? Are those hard to paint? Will paint stick to them or do you need a special type of primer? | |

They can be because of their shape! I had repainted mine a few years before I did the whole car and they can be interesting! Nothing special, just the normal urethane base coat clear coat primer and paint.

| Well, first you want to make sure it is spotless. Use a good dish soap like Dawn maybe to remove any grease/grime with a scrub brush. Check for prep recommendations on the bed liner product container, it should say if anything special is needed besides being clean.
Me, I just keep mine off.
