| Ok my current mods in progress are an air intake system(which adds 15 HP), and switching from my stock SC pully to a thrasher 3.4" SC pully. does anyone have any idea how many horses these mods will add to my 240 HP riv? | |

well I would recommend AGAINST getting the thrasher pully. they only have four sizes, other brands have sizes in 1/10" increments.

| I agree. ZZP and INTENSE pulleys are more common, and offer more options. Starting off with a 3.4" pulley is risky anyway. You'll be safer starting with an MPS and gradually moving smaller. See links: Modding 101SC Pulley SizeHP can't just be added up like apples. You may get 10 HP with a good air intake, maybe 15 with a very good one, or you may see 20 HP with the 3.4" SC pulley, but you won't necessarily see 35 HP with both. Depends on a lot of other things: gas, engine condition, tune, support mods, weather, etc. With your planned approach (which should also include 180º t-stat and AL104 plugs), my guess is you will see about 260 HP and a lot of torque increase. You will also be getting knock(KR) in warmer weather, if not right now. Make sure your fuel filter is new. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Isn't the Threasher compatible with Pulley Boys pullies? I know Intense/ZZP are interchangeable. I think PB and Thrasher are interchangeable as with each other. | |

| what do you think if i took off the stock pullies and replaced them with a 3.2" SC pulley, and a 3.5" tensioner and 3.5" idler pullies, as long as i tuned and scanned them? | |

there is no way in hell you can run a 3.2" SC pulley without some decent mods and not expect a ton of KR Headers (maybe you could get away with ported manifolds but doubtful) Rockers or cam CAI/FWI plugs 2 ranges colder 180* themostat tuner this is bare minimum. and you will probably still be fighting KR, it will just be a few degress instead of double digit KR though.

| I'd also doubt that a 3.5 would fit the idler with the engine mount bracket on. | |

| I'm running a 3.6 SC pulley with all the supporting mods in my sig, and still see up to 4 deg of KR.
PLEASE add pertinent car information to your signature. What year is your Riv? No one here wants to search around for other posts to find this info. What supporting mods, if any, have you already done that might make it possible for to reduce SC pulley sizes? Add that info to your sig. You are not asking a simple question here, and we need more info to give you a worthwhile answer. We can only assume you've done no supporting mods, which means you really don't want your SC spinning any faster than it already is. I don't mean to be harsh here, but please give us more details in your signature, so you don't have to type it every time you have a question.

| Ok. Start by running a Autolite 104s and a 180* tsat. Get 3in downpipe and then drop to a 3.5 , or a 3.4 if your feeling ballsy( like me) . You'll be more than happy with the results , trust me. if you still want more then theres other things available. | |

| BUT, you really should find a way to scan for KR before dropping pulley sizes. Every car is different, and you could already have significant KR. | |

| First you should scan and see if you have any KR on 91 in stock form. Often times they do...
If you are KR free and you can only get 91 you could try a 3.6. If you are KR free you can try a 3.5 but I wouldn't unless you can get 93 octane.
Find somebody local with a scanner who can take a few rides with you... When you change pulley sizes you'll also want to reset fuel trims if their scanner has that ability.
My local resource (until I got my own powertuner) was a local Grand Prix club. You can almost always find somebody near you who belongs to a chapter of CGP or something... and usually one of them will have a tuner... at least you can scan and reset fuel trims with that.

| With a 3.6 SC pulley, there's no need to use a larger tensioner pulley yet. I think at a 3.4 SC pulley the need is there, or nearly so. BTW, to answer your question about the smallest SC pulleys, they are available down to 2.8, maybe 2.6?? Of course you need a buttload of mods in place before you get anywheres close to that. Plus the SC snout needs to be machined first in order for the really small pulleys to fit on, as they'll contact the SC snout body. | |

| And again, I'll ask if you would please add your car info to your signature in your user profile section. Tell us the year and SC or not, at a minimum. Also nice to see current mods in place. It saves us all from asking when you post an inquiry, and will get you better answers to your questions. | |

i will agree with that I wouldn't. I've scanned two different GTPs completely stock with 3-4* of KR. It does happen. Don't assume unless you want to be buying new pistons. If you are serious, get a scanner at minimum, programmer better.

I borrowed a tool from Dave and he emailed zzp and asked them for the PDF on the removal/installation instructions.

| If you buy or borrow the pulley puller, be sure the instruction sheet is included. I don't know if each vendor's tool works exactly the same or not. I do have a PDF of ZZP's inst sheets, more than happy to email it to anyone needing it. The tools can easily be damaged if not used properly per the inst sheet. Like Travis stated, the tool also functions to install the new hub or press-on pulley, whichever way you go. | |
