| Should be good now. FYI this diagram is for the CS II system in a '98 Riviera. It may have some similarities to the '95. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Thanks for the diagram. I have a few questions about it. I plan on hard wiring my Pioneer DEH-P5800MP deck into my 97 Riviera with the Concert Sound 2 package. I have the new bezel to hold the stereo, and I know how to take the dash apart and get the old stereo out (had it out once). I was going to buy the harness for the car and make it a bit easier, but i thought it came with the dash install kit (for $21 it should have). The kit I got was the one for the Suzuki's and GM's.
I was wondering if you could show me a diagram pointing out which pin in the connector is which wire. Many of the colors in the diagram are almost the same color which makes it kinda hard to follow.
My Pioneer's wiring diagram goes as follows.
speaker wires obviously go to speaker wires on the list (I will probably just not hook up the front wires and send those back to the 4-channel amp I'll be hooking up...easier than trying to locate the wire under the dash and cutting it there)
Red Ignition will go to yellow ignition in diagram
Yellow power will go to OJ battery in diagram
OJ/White dim wire either goes to dim enable or dim signal
black ground goes to one of the black grounds (don't think it matters which)
blue/white remote goes to I would guess green remote in diagram and will also go to amp (what does other antenna wire go to)
If I had the radio control adapter that would plug into back of my stereo and into the green steering wheel control wire
What are the PWM, and Data Link wires for? Also, how do I tell if I have the wrong wire or not (with like colors)
I wired this stereo into my fiero last year and didn't have any problems with it. I also wired a stereo into my sister's Ford Escort with no problems. This seems a bit more difficult
Also, could my stereo be causing my security thing to lock me out? It seems like when my stereo is on the car won't start and locks me out for 3 minutes, but when I shut the stereo off it starts with no problems. I got a new key thinking that was the problem, but it didn't help.

| Crutchfield will also have the SWI (Steering Wheel Interface) that you need and they are usually very good about providing all the necessary wiring diagrams for free with the Pioneer to GM adapter harness and for the SWI. Ask for PAC #SWI-X, if I remember correctly. Note: PAC = Pacific Accessory Corp. | |

| I want to wire everything tomorrow and don't plan on making a trip into town for just the adapter (25 miles to nearest town). I don't really care too much about the steering wheel controls. I've never had them in any of my other cars, so I think the remote I have will be suffice.
No one knows the the pin location of each wire?
Thanks for the help you two. If I can't find out what I'm looking for, I might have to go into town to pick it up. I just sprung a radiator leak when I got home tonight though, so I need to diagnose and try to fix that before I drive it anywhere. It's on the driver's side of the radiator, near the top. Not the hose (hoping it's fixable, already put too much money into repairs on this car)

| Well, if no one has an answer by tomorrow morning I'll pick up a harness and post a diagram of where each wire goes for any future interest. | |

| Thanks both of you. That's exactly what I'm looking for. So the extra wires on the riv harness are pointless for an aftermarket install. Killed two birds with one stone . I'll head out and install it after lunch. If I have any more problems you'll see the posts lol. | |

| Nope, it's on whenever the deck is on. Push the volume knob and the antenna will come up, even if it's playing a CD.

| Reversed polarity cancels out lower-mid and especially the bass frequencies, because one driver is operating out of phase. You might not notice with smaller OEM speakers, because they don't make a lot of bass. With amplified systems, or larger speakers, the difference is like night and day. A subwoofer system with an out of phase driver can use hundreds of watts and produce almost no output at all.
This is very similar to the technology used in Bose noise-canceling headphones.
There is potential to damage speakers with reversed polarity, because the listener may try to boost bass or increase the volume to hear the sound that is lost by cancellation - this causes the drivers to be extremely stressed, even though you can't tell by listening. The sound waves produced by one speaker are canceled by the other out of phase driver.
If both speakers are wired out of phase, there is no difference in sound quality or performance. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

Does this apply to the '95 as well?

| How about a 96?
Also, what is required for speaker replacement? Is it possible, or advisable to just replace stock pieces with aftermarket? Or should I do some rewiring? Also plan on wiring in a new receiver and subwoofers, is it as relatively straightforward as it is on other vehicles, or will the CS2 mean more work?
Thanks! | |

| Look in the "Write Ups" section for Audio and Electronics, should have all the info you need. Removing the dash for an install is not as straight forward as other cars. But luckily for you, other people have documented everything they did. Even removing the door panels requires some finesse without breaking them. With an aftermarket head unit you will want to install the interface device that allows you to use the steering wheel controls. Also an item that has been written about. A complete system install including proper speakers and a sub or 2 with a head unit and gutting the interior can take a couple of days depending on how many hours per day you want to work on it and how much homework you do ahead of time. | |
