I'm pretty excited.

I went over to Ed Morad's new shop. This place is huge, 4 times the size of their old shop to those who have seen it.

They also have several new employees, all of which know what they're doing. The guy who worked on my car (Josh, I think his name is) has a Series 2 with a Gen V blower in a Fiero. It's cammed, and there's a bunch of other goodies as well. His car was amazing.

Anyway, he popped my old pulley off, which was installed without anti-seize. A very bad situation for those of you doing your own pulley swaps. He did get mine off, but it might have caused an extra hour of work to take it all apart to get the thing off there.

So he put the new pulley on, and noticed that I had a little play - yep, bad coupler. It's just my luck that they had an aftermarket coupler in the house! He said that he could do that job right away, and started immediately.

So now I have a new coupler, SC oil, and pulley. Overall a good day.

Interestingly enough, my belt is riding on the CENTER ribs of the pulley... and it seems fine. I told him that the Intense pulley rides on the inner ribs, and he put it there - but apparently it hopped over. So whatever. Here's a fuzzy picture.

So there we have it. Now I just have to rock the powerlog, and I'll be happy with mods... for like a month.

I can hardly believe it hopped over on its own. From the front of the engine, looking down at the belt at a right angle, can you see any of the belt on the tensioner showing behind it? The part to look at is in the bottom corner of your picture.

Checking...

Yes, a tad.

How the hell do you loosen the tensioner so I can fix this? I've never done it...

I see it's one of those crazy star bits. I'm sure there's a number I need to know for that size.

Which way do I crank it though?

I figured out what happened. He installed the SC pulley, and then put the belt on. But then he had to take the belt off again to take the snout off to get at the coupler, and he forgot and put it in the center.

Damn Aaron, you're a fuckin' sleuth if I ever met one.

Yes, a torx bit. Can get a set at AutoZone for cheap. Observe the belt the way it is. Guess how much it's running out. .25" is too much. .125" is questionable. Take a picture if you can. This link shows kinda what I'm talking about:

https://rivperformance.editboard.com/series-ii-engine-transmission-f4/intense-vs-zzp-sc-pulleys-t971.htm?highlight=intense

Use a ratchet to turn the tensioner counter clockwise, then slip the belt off.

IMPORTANT: try to keep tension on the belt with your hand. If you drop it, it could loosen from the crank pulley. Move it over to the inner grooves, then check the belt is correctly aligned on the crank pulley, like this:

Once the belt is correctly on the inner grooves, start the car and shut it off, then observe the belt run-out again. It should be less than before, or none at all. Double check your SC belt is aligned with the crank pulley.

Okay, I bought the bit which was a "Size 50" (whatever that means) and put it on the proper rib.

I think that I'm cool now. Lines up with tensioner perfectly.

Thanks AA.
