I have a 95 SC. Love it............. I'll soon have forum questions. Any general tips out there. The car has 160,000 mile but runs like a top. It sounds like the SC pulley is rattling or some other pulley.

Welcome to the forum. To pinpoint where the sound is coming from you can use a long screw driver and put one end on the engine part and the other end on your ear. Do this with the engine running and be careful that you don't get caught in the belts and pulleys.

Actually the SC is easier to check by hand rather than than the screwdriver stethoscope.

What you do - Use a wrench to take the belt off (slacken the tensioner, slip off the belt) and turn the pulleys by hand, see which one(s) squeak, and turn the SC gently by hand and see if there is play in it, that is, kind of like a dial-combination lock. They are easy to turn at first and then get more friction when the dials/tumblers catch - when the coupler is wearing out, it's kind of feels like that; very easy to turn for a short way in either direction then they catch. If you can measure the loose-turn disttance you can get an idea of how worn the coupler is.
