Rocker INstallation gone AWRY!!! Empty
PostSubject: Rocker INstallation gone AWRY!!!   Rocker INstallation gone AWRY!!! EmptyWed Aug 20, 2008 2:21 am

Ok ill keep it to the point... I installed the 1.8:1 rocker arms in my 97 riv. Current mods are, 3.5' FWI, PLOG, 3" downpipe w/ hi flo cat, TB spacer, 180 deg thermo, 3.4" pulley, autolite 104's, and an INTENSE PCM. Since the installation, My aeroforce gauge tells me that my LTFT's (which were at 0.0 at idle and 3.8 at cruise) are now at -20 at idle and -3.6 at cruise, after a 30 mile relearn. Therefore, the car idles rough and is very hesitant once revved. There are no noises or knocking sounds though the knock retard did kick in a few times at and around 50 mph..Also its chronically throwing a P0102 (mass flow sensor) and a P0341(cam position sensor) check engine codes! so I'm at a loss to either get a new tuned PCM or just reinstall the old rockers.. bonk bonk bonk

any ideas?! thanks guys!

I had those same two codes and they were both a wiring problem between the ICM and PCM. I also have a 97 supercharged.

Something happened during install. Check your vacuum lines and wiring are connected properly. A different rocker ratio shouldn't create the problems you describe. In other words, if you put the old rockers back in, you will most likely still have these problems.

agree changing to the old rockers will likely not fix the problem. try cleaning the MAF, rechecking all connections, and maybe switch back to the stock pcm temporarily to see if it helps your numbers.
good luck

Sounds like a disconnected ground, or unplugged harness somewhere... it's running in limp mode DON'T STEP ON THE GAS until you figure this out.

Well... here's what I'm up to soo far... I used my GM service manual for the car..( if you guys need any scans once i figure this out let me know...) an my MAF is not putting out any signal to the PCM. Its getting voltage but only a signal of about .3v seems to come out (if any) I replaced my INTENSE PCM with the original and still the same codes.. also I ran to advanced auto and picked up a new MAF for the hell of it and still nothing.. Turtleman.. could you tell me where your wiring problem was? I even re sanded the ground under the ICM and still nothing.. And 98rivera98... what back fuel pressure thingy where you talking about? lol
