You probably already have them, but if not, make sure to slide a couple of jack stands under there before getting under the car.

Stands are pretty reliable, but I know what you mean. Just in case, I have about 2 dozen 1 ft lengths of 2x6" board that I stack under the car when I'm going to be under there a lot. Ramps are good for oil changes and some other engine work.

OH NO... Got my oil change.......SOLVED - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: OH NO... Got my oil change.......SOLVED   OH NO... Got my oil change.......SOLVED - Page 2 EmptyMon Aug 25, 2008 9:27 pm

ok... I jacket it up, got #6 changed out. Took the hood off the SC and reseated all the plugs on the MAF/Intake. Then I unscrewed the main connector to the coil packs and reseated that too. Still misfiring. Tomorrow I am going to pull up the back seat, disconnect the battery, pull the main plug out on the computer and reseat that too. I believe that should reset the SES. Once done, I am going to just leave it alone till Wednesday when my new wires come in. I ordered the Accell custom fit high performance wires ($100.00) and I will install those before I restart the car. I hope that the combination of resetting the computer and replacing the wires will cure it. Any suggestions for my next move otherwise?

No didn't spray the sensor, I just reseated all the electrical connections. The original screen is still on the intake end of the MAF and I didnt want to mess with it or pull it till I have the new wires on. Since we still have the wifes car to drive, I have the luxury to take it one step at a time.

The MAF comes out the top of the TB. No need to remove the intake tube or TB screen to clean it. I don't think this is your problem, but it's worth a shot.

Picked up my new plug wired and IAT this aft. Got Accel 9000 Extreme wires.
Anyone tried these wires, they are the exact fit ones.. $100.00 so i hope that I didn't screw up. Supposed to be good to 600 deg. I will still use the heat sheilds on the rear plugs tho...
Unfortunately Tropical Storm Faye's reminants are here for the last two days, and since I don't have a garage it is going to have to wait till the weather clears.

I have them....they're not exactly direct fit and mine came with 8 wires not 6...all different lenghts......

start from the back, pull off an old wire, match up the lenght and replace it with the new wire....you'll find that on the back manifold that plugs 2,4 and 6 have spring loaded metal heat deflectors on the old plugs/wires...reuse these. Do one wire at a time and you'll have no problems...

I'm happy with the Accel wires....

Huh.... you're right, just opened the box and sure enough... 8 wires inside. Yeah, I had planned to use those metal shields on the back plugs too. Interesting... not exactly what they claim in the avdertising eh (re:exact fit)?

so to recap what you have done thus far:
all new wires
all new plugs (AL605's?)
checked all connectors
cleaned the MAF
reset the pcm

and you still have a random misfire?

Reseated all the connections,
New Plugs (pp660's)
New wires.
New Air box IAT.

Will reset the PCM & clean MAF tomorrow.

I spoke to a mechanic ths evening... He said that a Lean condition is a good possibility for random misfires. I mentioned that the day before it started this problem I had filled up with Premium gas. He said that I should check the vaccuum lines and change the fuel filter. He also mentioned that I may have gotten bad fuel, especially because I filled with premium and with the prices in the rural area I live in, probably not a lot of premium being sold.... So, I am goint to throw a couple of bottles of HEET in it andtop off with regular then take it for a ride see if that is all it is. If there's moisture in the fuel the HEET will clear that up in short order. He also recommended that I pull off my coil packs and see if there any arc/burn marks on the ignition module. So I have a menu of possibilities...

could be bad gas... Otherwise find out what the SES is before you reset it.

PostSubject: Re: OH NO... Got my oil change.......SOLVED   OH NO... Got my oil change.......SOLVED - Page 2 EmptyFri Aug 29, 2008 9:10 pm

OK here's the chronology starting a week ago....:
Friday, filled up w/premium, drove home 30 miles. all good
Saturday, Got oil changed, drove 2 mi, got airfilter, went back all good.
Got airfilter installed, pulled out.. ran like $hit.
Went home, looked for anything obvious.. (nada)
Went to Autozone had them hook up reader #4 cly. misfire.
Bought a set of PP660's and put them in.
Still running rough.
Monday, Went back to Autozone, had them hook it up...
"Random misfire". Ordered new wires and IAT for airbox.
Tuesday, Wednesday... Rained like a beeotch didnt do $hit.
Thursday Installed new wires.. still runs rough.
Today Thinkin maybe bad gas, so bought 2 bottles of HEET
poured in tank, topped off gas to mix it up.
Went to Autozone had them read it out... Cyl 2 misfire.
Drove 50mi shut off engine and restarted after 30 & 40mi.
Drove the last 10 back to Autozone shut off hook up again.
Same... Cyl 2 misfire.
swapped the #2 coil pack with the #1 coil pack & reseated
plug wires.... Still reads #2 misfire.
Wet home and got abused by wife, says I dont know what
I am doing and to go pay the Buick dealer BIG$$$$.
Tempting just to shut her up!
But I am not done yet....... I have my support group !
(you guyz)

who's plugs are pp660's? are those stock heat range? (dont think that is your problem, but i am just curious)

so have you inspected the MAF yet? if you are sure all the plugs are good, all the wires are hooked up correctly, and the coil packs are not corroded on the bottom, then MAF is about the only thing i can think of that isnt serious/costly.

does it just run rough at idle, or all the time? what happens at WOT? does it miss when revved in N ?

sorry if any of that was covered in the first 4 pages. just trying to save you a costly trip to the dealer to have them tell you the famous "oh, it must be the supercharger...we need to replace it" line. lmfao
