| Alright, what do you think about this deal? http://louisville.craigslist.org/ele/846450487.html That's two of those same subwoofers that I didn't think had that much bass and they're in an enclosure for $100. I believe this is what he has. Not $399 but still $299... http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=192803 If the guy still has these I'm sold on them. After some thought, even if these aren't the most powerful subs out there it's two nearly new woofers in a box for $100. That would buy me one Memphis sub and wouldn't even get me one sub from a lot of guys. This would leave me with the majority of my money to be spent on an amp. Then I could always upgrade to better speakers later. | |

| Not a bad deal, but they're still bottom end subs. From what you've said of your preference for high-end audio, I think you want to keep shopping.
If you're going to do low-end, I'd go with JL. Check out W0s, or older W1s. I used a single 10W1 for a while - unbelievable how low and loud it got. Check into these: http://louisville.craigslist.org/ele/844697842.html
Too bad you missed this one, two vintage 12W6s = badass. One would have been more than enough: http://louisville.craigslist.org/ele/785969560.html _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Oh, well that's pretty easy to do. Buy those 4 Cuspid 12"s and stuff them in the smallest enclosure you can find. This will raise your Qtc and increase your mechanical power handling, it's what SPL competitors do to get really loud.
it won't sound that good, but getting loud and playing deep are two different things. If you want both, plan to spend lots of money. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| What do you think of kicker products AA? I got a kicker amp 1250.1 and two kicker l7 12s. I am not sure which year the speakers are but they were when the amp was. Should this be a good setup? | |

| Had an offer made to me for two Kicker 12" L5s that are in a ported and tuned box setup with 2 ohms and tuned to 34 hz. The guy is asking $350 which seems high compared to the JL Audio setup for $400 which included an amp. | |

| I like kicker a lot. I've had a single 8" L7 with 200 watts- been happy for 5 years and still going. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I got the guy to knock down to $300. He said exactly "I'm just trying to cover enough to get a fi q. If so it might be within two weeks of you can wait that long." What the hell does all that mean?
Better deal to get the Kickers for $300 and buy an amp or wait until I can pay $400 and get the JL Audio's with an amp?

| Now have $350 to spend on car subwoofers - possibly $400 but that's tapping into more money than I'd like to. Would like some suggestions - the subwoofer shop had a setup like this for around $250-300 (Forgot exact price). Showed me the cheap line of Jackhammer MTXs as comparison to what these would sound like. Seems awfully cheap to be any good... http://cgi.ebay.com/MTX-TNP212D-DUAL-12-TERMINATOR-1200W-AMP-SUBWOOFERS_W0QQitemZ110290280973QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110290280973&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A1%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 | |

| I think I have seen those same subs in a members car. I would ask him how they sound. Also are your remembering the cost of everything else required for installation. Your stereo is only as good as the wiring you use. | |

| The guy I mentioned previously with the JL Audios I have been trying to determine if he was full of it or not about the cost. He says around $1000 is what they cost, but he's in high school which seems odd (Spending a grand on subs in high school?). The subs he says are either 12w3s or 12w5s but from looking it up here is what a 12w3 looks like: Here are his subs: Gotta be 12w5s - but I can't find any info on them. No idea on their cost new right now. The amp is the JL Audio 250/1 monoblock which I saw one for $265 buy it now on Ebay and the price new on Epinions was $300. The box looks decent but do you all think all that went for $1,000 new? Additionally the wiring looks decent to me. Speaking of which - how exactly is the proper way to wire the subs up? My dad always just hooked them in to the back channel speakers but I don't know the way you're supposed to do it. Bert, I don't care it's my friggin' money. No offense but I didn't ask how to spend it - I want to know good subs. I have nothing else to spend it on unless I want to splurge for the excessive and replace my perfectly fine 19" CRT monitor with a 24" LCD or something else ridiculous like such or put an even better video card in my computer (Haven't been playing any PC games lately though). I'm not doing any performance mods after the GTP blew up - I'd have to do them myself and not tell my dad if I did because he wouldn't want me to now. | |

| Those JL Audios are $375. They're on the high end of my price range. Are they really worth that?
lol, then this would work out great. I want more bass from my car and it will get me more attention - works out quite well!

| if. Those are w5s, they're 15 years old at least. Probably w1s or w0s. If you buy then, check the foam carefully for tears. Jls without grills = possibly damaged subs. Box may 'look' decent, but that doesn't mean it's the right volume for that driver. Do research first; might be a great deal. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Hmm, see this is one thing I hate about buying subs used. The kind of care the previous owner put them through. He claims they have tons of bass, etc etc but I don't know the model and he doesn't either (He lost the papers - stupid kid). I don't know if I wanna be spending $375 on these.
Another important thing to point out, he's fairly far from me. It'd be quite a drive out of my way to go even look at them. How bad would those MTX Terminators I showed earlier be? They're the most reasonable deal I can get on brand new subs at around $300 or so with an amp and in box with the subs.
I'm still up for suggestions on subwoofers. I have allocated some of my money specifically for this so $400 is the max I could go (And I really would prefer to go $300 or less). I just want decent quality bass with the emphasis on volume. It sounds good at lower volumes but can also get crazy loud.

| Keep looking. I wouldn't buy those JLs if he can't tell you what they are. I wouldn't buy those "terminator" subs, either. They aren't the original Terminators, which were IB (infinite baffle) subs. I imagine they're cheap reproductions like the "jackhammers". Avoid products like this like the plague. Also, 100W driving two 12s is pretty weak. If they are wired 2 ohms, you get 200W, but there's no spec saying that's the case.
Let's change gears. Instead of trying to score a deal on crappy gear from God knows who, why not order a couple of these and find or build an enclosure from its spec manual:
