| hi i am replacing my leaky exhaust gasket donut. went to autozone and gave them the yearm model, but they gave me a donut that was 2'' diameter and the original was 2 1/2...took it back and they gave me a different model, which was a 1/4 inch short...autozone then told me to go to hastings or united auto parts which both told me that the part is NA in stock meaning i would have to go to the dealer...the diagram for the exhaust was the same as auto zones, but i dont see why one auto zone would say they stock it and give me a bad part if they dont carry it in the first place.?..went to another autozone where an employee had a park avenue and said an aurora 1998 4.0 would have the same size exhaust possibly but told me to go to advance auto parts (see where the runaround comes in?) who told me they didnt stock it but would order it for me, then referred me to a small shop a few blocks away, who gave me almost the spitting image of the donut gasket, but just slightly off so that it wouldnt fit..so i went ahead and ordered it from adavnce but im betting on NOT getting the right part. so now im down half a tank of gas, and countless hours of time. anyone know if the dealer stocks it and how much since i know they loooove screwing people or should i hit the junkyard and get the part? now the junkyard has about 4 rivieras in there, of which i know a few are supercharged..is the exahust pipe the same diameter as a NA? or are there any other cars that have interchangeable parts with a riviera i can try? | |

| Gaskets arent that bad at the dealer. I had to replace the donut gasket like every 10k on my 93 Century. Go to the dealer.... | |

| yeah i had gotten the wrong part again today that was ordered and they referred me to another shop. turned out the porblem was that i have a 98 motor in a 95 and the two are aparently different donut diameters. even when i told autozone that they still gave me the wrong size gasket. but its fixed now, adn runnign a whole lot smoother as well | |
