Okay I know its not rocket science but still, I'm gonna brag about it anyway. razz

All thats needed is 2 new struts - $25 ea from O'really's (my nickname for them)

As well as something to prop the hood with or a friend that doesn't mind holding it for the whole 2 min this takes, and a small flathead screwdriver.

Now open hood (duh dunce ) prop hood or have friend hold in upright position. and locate small slot's in either end of struts. Top looks like this

Slide screwdriver between metal retainer clip and strut mount.

Pry gently and give a slight tug, should come right off. repeat with smaller end on fender and replace by simply snapping new strut into place.

End result, no more hood smacking me in the back of the head when I'm working on it.

Please don't mind the dirty engine compartment, its winter here in the north 40 and it doesn't make sense to me to clean it ATM.

I was glad too. I didn't quite know what to expect since I'm a complete newbie to these cars. I was quite pleased.

Happy to say mine feel as strong as new still. $25 seems kind of cheap though, let us know how well they work in the cold, and a few months from now.

They seem pretty strong, they seem like they are slightly thicker than the factory one's. I'll definitely check how they open when the weather turns colder again.

Glad to hear yours are still working for you.

Amazon has the Monroe hood lifts for $7.06 each. They usually sell for around $20 each. They only have two left, so order them soon if you need them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IWCUQ2
