"I wanna go fast!!" Empty
PostSubject: "I wanna go fast!!"   "I wanna go fast!!" EmptyTue Dec 09, 2008 6:38 pm

Not to long ago i was the proud owner an operator of a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic an a member of a B-Body club called S.O.SS.T. .I had that caprice and was a member of the club for about a year an a half. I had the need for speed way before but durring that year an a half I became addicted to a drug called POWER an my 95 Riv just aint got enough. Dont get me wrong she puts a smile on my face when i ask her to move with authority but my Caprice did way more than just make me smile. It raised eyebrows. Out of the whole club I had the smallest motor of all (unless u counted my cusin with his 268 but he never realy got to envolved in our rain deer games) but when we decided to play I always ran with or ran over the bigger dogs.I miss the feeling i got from the V8 power planting me securly in my seat. I plan on getting another Caprice but the time just isnt right, I dont plan on it being my only car and I dont have anywhere to put a 4th vehicle. Currently I drive my Rivi daily but she needs some more muscle an a slight makeover. I wanted to do a Mild build on the current series1 in order to keep costs down instead of goin with a series2 an some go-fast mods. I was thinkin of borein it 20 over, maybe increasin the stroke a lil, some forged pistons portin the heads, a custom cam from Comp Cams, 1.8 roller rockers, and 2.5" supercharger pulley. I was wondering has anyone else here tried to get some numbers out of there series1 an if so how'd it work out for u? Also has anybody swaped the stock auto transaxle for a manual? I've been dreamin an readin a lil an I think it should be extremely doable.

Im sure that your idea is doable. Myself and my nephew just "muscled up" his GTP and we did notice a decent HP change. Keep us posted on the progress of your Riv!

your best bet is to get a custom turbo or get a series 2 powered car. With a series 2 and the aftermarket available $1,900 and you can have a low 12 second car with a turbo.

Thats the easy way. I perfer the road less traveled. Plus I perfer supercharging over turbo. Putting a turbo in it might make me feel to much like im in a rice burner.

if your going for over power gains then turbo is the way to go, the money you put into your series I wont amount to the gains you'd have being turbo. you will have spent the same amount of money just to be slower, thats why i havent gone through with buying an intercooler. might as well go turbo, plus who else has a turbo riviera

With out a dought Turbo is the way to go to win the HP numbers race, an I think it would suprise the hell out of anybody who hears a Rivi with a blowoff valve. I just think a supercharger squeelin sounds better.
