PostSubject: First Riviera   First Riviera EmptySun Mar 15, 2009 10:15 pm

Hey guys I'm new to the Riviera scene. I've always wanted one and I finally got a chance to lay my hands on one so I jumped on it. It's got a few issues from the previous owner (see my first post), but hopefully I can get that straightened out.

Anyway, I'm 20 years old, and from far upstate new york about 2 miles from the canadien border. I've been a Buick fan since I can remember. My last Buick before the Riviera which is a 1990 Park Ave has over 300,000 miles on it and I still drive it as of right now to keep the miles on the Riviera low. The engine has no oil pressure at idle, the speedometer doesn't work and the heater is stuck on, but other than that it runs great. wink

I've got a lot of things to do to my Riviera before I'm happy, but I'm hoping to spend a lot of time here helping others out and getting help (which I'll more than likely need a lot of).

I am about 40 miles to the east of Potsdam. I've got an uncle that lives there. I'm in the town of Malone.

Cool, my brother went to Clarkson in Potsdam and I drove up to visit several times. I probably bought gas in Malone once or twice... I always have this argument with my wife who grew up on Long Island - it goes like this:

Her: "We should go visit my cousins upstate" (referring to the tri-state area)
Me: "That's not upstate"
Her: "Yes it is"
Me: "No, Potsdam is upstate"
Her: headbutt
Me: finger
Her: shoot

and it goes downhill from there...

My uncle actually works at Clarkson as an IT tech in charge of networking.

I know exactly what you mean about the upstate thing. I always argue with people who say anything outside of NYC is upstate essentially. Nothing past Albany apparently exists. lol
