| I have a 95 riviera for about a week now and fell in love with it. The problem now is that motor is smoked. Just wondering what you guys though about rebiulding this one or just putting in a used motor. Or maybe switching to a series ll since the motor has to come out anyway. thanks for yuor help. | |

| Easiest will be to find a low mile used motor. They generally last forever, so pretty much anything that comes with a basic warranty should be fine. (there's a junkyard near us that warranties every motor for 90 days, so you can determine that it all works...) | |

| depends on how much you want to spend on fixing it up. a series 2 motor would be your best approach if you plan on modding down the road. you would need a new pcm too. you may also need a transmission out of the series 2 car as well. probably looking at $2000 for a used motor/trans/pcm package in decent shape.
or if money is tight you can get a used series 1 for pretty cheap. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | the n/a has higher compression and different injectors than the /sc motor. and the some of the trans are HD for the s/c motor. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Is your current motor supercharged (Series I) or N/A (Series II)? Hard parts from the SII engine won't bolt onto the SI engine.

| I believe all L67 engines share the same cast iron block.
If it is the stock engine in a '95 Riviera, it uses the Series I SC 3.8L engine, which uses the L67 block. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Please add some info about your car to your signature under user preferences, and turn on signatures, so we don't have to ask what year/motor your car is in every question.
Thanks! | |
