What mods to take out an 04 gtp

So I just got my rivi a couple weeks ago and I'm already addicted. I've been reading just about everything I can on here and have learned a lot. Now I need a little advise. My buddy has a stock 04 gtp with the newer style blower and loves to talk about how his car is so much faster than my "old man buick" even though we have yet to race. Anyways I was wondering what mods I would need to beat him in an 1/8 or 1/4 mile race. I've already gutted the airbox just because it was so easy and I'm planning on the autolite 104s and 180* thermometer. What else do the experts recommend for taking down this pontiac.

Do headers (if so, don't get a hogan dp), or plog first, that will really help to open it up, then pulley drop. Unfortunately that GenV s/c that he has on his grand prix will outflow any stock or ported gen III s.c like you have. If he's stock you might have a chance with all the mods mentioned.

Since he's running the newer blower, he's already got a huge advantage over you. You'll probably need rockers, some exhaust (plog/PEMs or headers) and a smaller 3.4 or smaller pulley to beat him. I'm running that combo now and should be in the 13.9 area of the 1/4 mile but I can't seem to break 14.0... I know it's all tuning related, though.

first of all, what year riv do you have? you posted this in the S2 section so i'm guessing that's what you have...(still should put that in your sig)

new gen GP's are slow. even with the gen V they run high 14's tops b/c of crappy oem tuning.
im in a local gp club and i've raced a few of the new style gp's, and even with intake and 1.5pcm i still outrun them.(granted i have a few mods)
i'd say FWI,DP, 3.5 pulley and the basic safety/maint mods. then a good launch and you should be able to take him by a little.
