98 has a 4t65e (HD?)

I don't think your tranny will have issues w/ the L32.

I got my L32 complete with 7,000 miles for somewhere around $2000. The tranny should bolt right up. But if you have 130,000 miles on the tranny I'd do something about that.

Why dont you swap on a 3.4in pulley and get a scanner. A 3.4 in pulley will provide a lot of excitement for very cheap. You have the supporting mods, just get a scanner.

If he presses the 3.4" on, with supporting mods, and scans to see lots of KR, then what?

Bent camshaft? Your car would shake like a mother with a bent camshaft. Your oil would be full of metal and any thing above an idle would bend a pushrod. Your car would sound like a lawnmower mowing a field of roofing nails.

But whatever... My advice: Sell you signature rims to pay for the fix.

Drop in an LS4. You'll have your v8, and you'll be even more unique. It would be a hell of a project but it would be worth it the first time you mat the throttle and hear the sweet v8 sounds as you trounce your moby dick.

By moby dick I mean that turbo neon you're worried about beating.

I'd imagine that your costs would be lower than buying a trans am even after taking into account the new engine/tranny, install/labor costs, engine mount fab, insurance costs and other misc. costs.

Or you could sell an otherwise nice car with a blown motor for about $2,000 and hope to find a decent ls1 trans am which will set you back at least $8,000 to get a car with near 100k miles. So now you're down $6,000 with a likely stock or near stock car running 13's...teach

At 16, I wouldn't even consider the trans-am. Insurance costs will be devastating.

Check into your engine problems. I've never heard of an L67 damaging a stock camshaft.

- Where do I obtain a larger throttle body for the rviera? What osrt of nonsense does that entail (sensors and the like)?
- Where do I obtain a smaller pulley and the belt? What sort of tools do I need to install the thing? How about blow off valves?
- Where can I get a lower thermostat than OEM 195 degree thermostats?
- Where do I get Headers? high flow cats?
- Are cold chrome air intakes with that cone filter acceptable?
- My front struts feel like they are made of marshmallows. Where can I find stock or better than stock front struts for this thing?

I know absolutetly jack squat about new cars and v6's or where to obtain parts for them. I have raced this 383 1983 ElCamino for years and just now am taking an interest in making my riviera, which I recently purchased, faster...

- NorthStar TB will fit, but not needed until you are further along. It would require a different MAF sensor and PCM programming.
- Smaller SC pulleys can be purchased through any of our performance parts vendors. You will need a special puller to install. Belts can be found at most auto parts counters. There are no blow-off valves.
- 180º T-stats can be found at any AutoZone or Advance, NAPA, or from any of our performance vendors.
- Headers can be found on eBay or through our performance vendors. High flow cats are sold through JEGs, Summit, and other performance shops.
- Chrome cold air intakes would be acceptable if they made one that fit our cars. Currently, there are no kits available.
- Stock struts can be found at the dealer or from any of our discount parts sources. KYB and Monroe struts are available through Summit Racing.

Read through our Series II FAQ. It will answer a lot of your questions.
