So i was driving today for 1h on a rainy day. everythign was just fin untill i parked my car beside road, leted the engine stay running. and cone to talk whit my friend. after ~5-10minutes started to drive and...wtf!...it made one weard noise...don't relly know how to explane relly...but it had no power....feelt like the gearbox was not going in 1st gear...or something...stoped beside road...and truyed to rev the engine in neutral....heard from exhaust how some of the fuel was exploading there...toght that maybe there is missfireing again in my engine like it was 10months ago. but this time it worked out after i changed sparkplugs and wires :S....but anyways the ''service engine soon'' light started to flach and then stayed on. on low revs it dos not sound diferent but when i even step on the gass bedal gently it makes //burrrrrrrrrrr....
i don't have the service manuals here at home...could anyone write out again on what reesons the service engine light flaches/stays on??
just getting more and more dissepointed on this car..when things like that happen...cant belive...

SES lights flash as an extra warning to turn the car off! it is usually associated with multiple cylinder misfires. get the code(s) read and get back to us.
sounds somewhat like what happened to me when my harmonic balancer went bad. can you check to see if it is wobbling or if the rubber has cracked?

Had you worked on the car any time before this happened? If so, what were you working on?
How hot was the engine after you let it idle in park for 10 mins?

the engine temp was normal...180-190F
the engine made strong vibration, like it had no power...same feelign as driving whit one car whit manual gearbox and having one high gear in on low speed. just vibrates when truy to accelarate
last time when i did anythign was on fryday when i just checked the engine (engine oil/gearbox oil, cleaned air filter)
the SES is not flachign anymore its just on... and why the hell they write on the warning light....SERVICE ENGINE SOON! instead of.....GET YOUR CAR FAST AS POSSIBLE TO THE CLOSEST SERVICE!!!
well im very disepointed... i will check the sparkplug wires on morning when the engine is cold. if they are fine...will truy to drive to work (5km) and when its still doing the same thing...guess i have to go back to uno to get some tools and space for checking the engine. if this wount help will let hes naber read the trobble codes...

I would guess spark plug wires. Idling hot after a wet rainy drive probably soaked them. Next time they dry out they'll probably be fine until the next time they get wet...

146849 v6's should be good enaf to keep going longer.
but guess the last owner just damaged the car way to much....just pushed on the gas pedal whitout spending even one penny for taiking care of things what needed to be changed/fixed...

I'm still on my original spark plug wires with 140K miles, but I have them all shielded in split loom tubing and have for many years, to prevent rubbing on corners and the other wires. Exposed, they should be ready to replace. Normal wear and tear...

My wires went at 109k miles. If you have a pulsation or hesitation only during hard acceleration, that's likely the problem. During normal driving the wires work fine because the ignition voltage is less.
One way to diagnose is to temporarily remove the SC belt. You won't build boost, so secondary spark tables won't engage, and there's no hesitation.

again, sounds like my broken crank pulley. easy to check when you take a look at the wires. at least rule it out.

okay....now got a code...P0300....what means missfireing in engine?
anyways...checked today sparkplugs...even tho they should be good i guess cos changed them after i buyed the car..(in september2008) found out that one sparkplug was a litle bit loos..took them all off..cleaned and visualy inspected..they seemed to be good. then checked the sparkplugs...cleaned them and visualy wived..buted them back on..started teh car and...grrrr...still the same thing...on low rpm runs fine...atleast sounds.. and when step on gas...so much that the sc starts...the engine starts to missfire again..and can hear from exhaust noise how some of the fuil is exploading in mufflers.. then..started to check 3 wires on the front whit one electricity resistans checker...or how ever it may be called...it showed atleast that they had resistans and where fine...did not check the rear ones..cos had to go home.... left my car there.. will go give another truy again on morning...
any ideas?

Have you replace the wires or not? If not, the wires are likely the problem.

i replaced them on 23 desember 2008 (buyed factory 8mm ones)
this time actualy is alot worch..
like i sayd before...its fine only when accelarate slowly...so that the sc dos not start to make boost..when it dos...makes the same sound as in the video..

did you check out the crank pulley? i had multiple misfires due to the crank spinning slightly off than the cam.
i would test the plugs/wires for spark? maybe even get some new AL105 plugs and delco wires to to rule them out. then test the coil packs.

i would buy plugs and wires if i could just get them from any shop...but i don't.. just need to be sure what is broken/not working...then buy
was thinking about lending for test the wires of uno's SSEi.
the crank pulley seemed to be allright..truyed to shake whit hand..it feelt solid and did not bend or anything sideways. if i run out of ideas will take pelts off and truy it again.
and would the crank pulley relly matter so much? unos SSEi's was broken...all it did was vibration and noise. but engine still worked 'fine'
if its the wires fault...i'm thinking about buying the zzp's wires.. they don't ship to europe...but..will ask if Rick can help me again on shiping. would buy again some other parts tho...

if you dont have motor vibration then it's probably not the crank pulley, but it is an easy thing to check(no need to take off the belts, just look at it with a flashlight). when mine went out i had major driving problems because the rubber face cracked causing the crankshaft to turn at a different time than the camshaft.(thus messing up engine timing which lead to too much/little fuel and multiple misfires)
you could get your hands on a good coil pack and swap them out to see if that fixed the problem.
also, maybe a long shot but try unplugging the MAF and seeing if the problem gets better or worse.

ok..i'm at my dads garage now.. checked the wires..again..they seemed to be fine..then took the plugs of..and on could start...the 3rd and 6th cylinders spark plugs stayed clean...sametime when others cone a bit black...that should locicaly mean that in the 3rd and 6th was no detonation? and checked the coils...3rd and 6th are under one coil...
if it´s broken thats bad news...can´t get it from here....so i need to order new one...
will go truy whit one coil of unois car. will update if i find whats wrong whit it.

well found out now....the coil 3/6 is one tottal RETARD! truyed it on the other car..and same thing started whit it...
sometimes instead of spending fast monney onf new plugs/wires is better to check so long till find whats wrong.
oh well.. wonder if 1st generals coils work on it(got one 1 generation engine here)... could drive whit it so long till i get new one ordered.

thanks for the ideas, uno told he saw one pontiac whit 3800engine in hes friends junkyard... but cos today 2morrow and on sunday are some big tradition celebrations here...everything is closed.. on monday and thosday will have long workdays tho...my only chance is on thursday to go check if they have any 3800engines there whit coils.
checked rockauto tho. it costs 17,80~ usd whit shiping was 32~ usd what isent bad atall but will take again shiping time..and the damn toll will ask probely taxes for it.
till that i have to leav my car to garage ...and drive whit my work car.
one thing amazed me...that this engine still runs bretty smooth on low rpms even tho only 4 of 6 pistions are working. if would have 1 coil system guess i would be staying beside rod.
