Hey gang...I'm back! smile

Okay, got the MAF problem solved, got the noise from belts & pulley area solved...

Now, at idle (like at a stoplight) the car makes a weird tranny rattle...

If I put car in park at light...nothing..idles fine. Put in reverse..nothing...put in neutral...nothing...but put in drive...I hear a periodic rattle...comes and goes with regularity.

Checked level, added 3/4 a quart...

Car drives fine, no lights, shifts fine, no clunks...just that rattle at idle at lights... Not too loud, I sorta feel it in the pedal and wheel... And when I turn her off, for a 1/2 second that rattle is there, no other sound but it..a shuddering bearing rattle sound..

Now I did replace the vacuum lines and put all new rubber on a lot of connetions, but I don't think I have a leak still...those hoses go on tight! But there is a vacuum connection from the TB to the tranny...what is that for???

I'm driving the car again, which is good. She's been down for about 3 weeks with problems, but back on the road again and I love it!

Did you recently have your Transmission Fluid flushed.?
I've had them leave one of the brackets off that secure the transmission lines and caused the lines to vibrate against the transmission.
Was a while ago, when I still thought flushes were a good idea.
Not anymore.
Even if you haven't had the lines disturbed for any reason it's worth looking at them from under the hood where they are supposed to be secured and see if they are free to rattle.

That ratle could even be non-transmission related, like a loose heat shield around the exhaust system or weak transmission mount.

I'd also suspect a head shield for that rattle.

I'll have to look (changing oil this weekend)

I do notice, when I turn the wheels all the way I get a similar sound..

I did have the tranny flushed and new filter put on. It leaked, so they put another seal on the pan.

Drives like a jet! Just at idle...very well could be an exterior rattle...

If it wasn't so damned cold I'd look now!

still cold, but I think it's not the tranny, but the power steering pump...it's rattling at lights in drive....

I wonder if it's going bad,or hasn't been tightened back down enough and it's loose...I'm looking tonight.
