| I just degreased my engine not too long ago, because the previous owner showed no respect for the car and didn't maintain it.. so since buying it, I just want to show you guys how much of a difference in appearance it's made before after | |

| wow thats one of the worst engines i've seen, and i was a mechanic  good job on the restoration. now do that a few more times and it will be brand new looking btw it looks like you have a different oil cover, or were they just different on the 97's? Randall, you didnt have far to go on that engine detail, just some dust here and there j/k i find the plastic resovoirs hardest to get clean. i pulled off the coolant tank and soaked it inside and out with bleach to clean it. (made 100% sure none was left in it) and headlight plastic cleaner really clears up the outside of the brake and washer fluid resov. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | You're right Matthew, Ryan's was a good bit worse than mine when we both started! I have replaced both tanks on mine since those pictures, I really get anal about cleaning the engine compartment can you tell? | |

| That makes a big difference. At least you'll stay clean when you lay over the top of the motor to change your plugs now. | |

| haha agreed :> aaron said to seafoam it first, so i'm waiting until I get lower on this tank of gas, i'll probably have to fill up tomorrow, which means it'll be a few days after that since I have to run it low | |

| you dont have to run it low. "sea foam it" means put it in the vac lines not the gas tank _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | you can do all 3 but i dont recomend putting any addative in the oil. and most gas treatments dont help much if only used once. the ones that hook up directly to the injectors or the fuel rail will work better but thats another debate topic the sea foam is most effective when sucked through the vac or brake booster line. and at $7 a can i'd just do the vac line treatment, spend another $4 on some TB cleaner and plugs/wires/fuel filter but thats just me. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | yeah, it's coming around i've been thinking about replacing all of the conduits for the wires. i'm an electrician so i've been thinking about snagging some ENT, (electro non-metallic tubing) it's pretty much the same as what the wires are in now, except it's this gnarly blue color lol | |

Mostly this stuff, a couple of different brushes, and lots of elbow grease!: Forgot to mention, I also use a sprayer that hooks to the hose and my compressor, not a real high amount of pressure, just enough to give the water a little extra. Don't want to hijack the thread, you can see examples of my engine compartments @ ... click the links below: This is probably the cleanest! 1995 Riviera ... updated 6/30/2008Then Silver Arrow #152: 1999 Silver Arrow #152Then Silver Arrow #10, this one stills need work but it is coming along: 1999 Silver Arrow #10 | |

| Can you post a pic of the do-dad you use with compressed air. I'm curious. I've been afraid of cleaning my engine bay for fear of shorting things out. But I have to clean at least the SC and intake around the injectors before I pull injectors for replacement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a well equipped shop with air but don't know if I have the tool your speaking of. | |
