| Reese, You need to tell where you bought the rebuild from so anybody else considering this overhaul shop can consider it two or three times. Sorry to hear about the premature demise of your engine. | |

| I feel your pain. I blew the heads in my first Riviera that was a motor swap. After the heads blew, the front bank of spark plug wires and the ECM got fried, courtesy of my uncle who did the work. So I was car-less for a few months until I bought another motor. $600 and a day later, I had a new motor installed with 125k on it | |

| For stock engines I would rather a well tested used original 75,000mile unit over a "rebuilt", you could have everything perfect except for one rod reconditioned wrong as someone left for lunch, had a hangover or something like that.. POOF junk.... | |

| No doubt about that!I always like to get a used factory engine with lowish miles over a rebuilt most any day.You can get a warranty from the salvage yards to if you really think you need one with these engines.Something must have been assembled wrong for a lower end problem to occur so soon after a rebuild if it was broke in right.Didn't you say the oil was changed regular after it was rebuilt? | |

| oil was changed the first 500 miles, and 2500-3000 after that. i just dont get it. i just have to find a motor with under 100k so i can do the swap. if everything goes right....starin early in the mornin, and be done by dinner. | |

| That break-in oil change at 500 and then every 2500-3000 is just right. You shouldn't have any problem finding an engine with those kinda miles on it.When I took mine apart just shy of 100,000 miles it looked spotless with little wear on the valvetrain parts that I inspected.hopefully the previous owner did maintenance like you do! | |
