| The car just got done gettin the front end fixed.....some douche decided to back into me with his truck. Had to replace the bumper. I had em repaint the hood, the RF fender (scratched), and blended the LF fender. This is a link to some pics while it was gettin cleaned up. I decided to paint the inner grille the same color as the car....turned out sweet. Some of the pics are grainy, but good for the most part....

| Yeah, car looks good as new. I like what you did with the grill, its kind of a throwback look. Those detail bays must be nice to have at your disposal, I assume thats where you work? | |

| What are the ports in between your back seat for? I am assuming you may have an audio system and perhaps they're for a sub, or even just sound transfer to your cabin. Is this right? Or do they serve another purpose? | |

Yep, that's where I work. The guy cleanin the car in the one pic is our porter/detail guy. He was finishing it up after I helped him wheel the pinstripe off and wax it. - Hometown Hero wrote:

Those ports are exactly that...for the subs. I hate the fact that all the sound from them gets trapped in the trunk, so I took two 4-inch ports from an old bandpass box I had and gave it a try. I need to paint the seat frame behind the lower hole (my first calculation was wrong, which is why there is 2). They really do work. They allow enough sound into the cabin to fill it with bass. When I "close" the armrest, the sound totally changes.

| AH, now I see them. How difficult was that job.? Or I should ask, How did you do that, a simple write up and some closer pic's would be nice. I like that idea as well.
I know Aaron mounted a sub back there, but if i remember correctly he said he an interior guy do the work, so i just assumed it was out of my budget right now.
I finally got my amps from my brother (one 4 channel and a 2 channel) and am considering a small sub in that space or as you have have shown, two small ones will work as well. Nice clean install.
Or put the holes in that space as ports for a trunk mounted 10" or 12" woofer in an enclosure which i already have. I don't know how that would sound though.

| Actually Rick, the box is in the trunk. The ports aren't attached to the box. I just put 'em there to let the (more) sound into the cabin. When I close that armrest, the sound level decreases dramatically, and the quieter bass notes (like a bass guitar) don't come through well. I like a nice, full sound, which is why I did that in the first place.

I had a guy build the box from my drawings. I did all the wiring, mounting, and interior work. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| So, I had to get a new exhaust. My DynoMax Super Turbo's I had decided to rust through . I bought 2 SS Pypes M80's with 3" inlet and outlet (they're tubes) to mount right after the DP. These are advertised as mufflers, not resonators. They lie.......bastards And after looking at this pic, it appears I'm missing a clamp?! It was ridiculously stupid f*@king loud, and I was embarrassed to drive it. Now, I like a good sounding loud exhaust, but these things are ridiculous. They do sound cool by themselves, just about 50dB too loud. I couldn't hear the S/C, I couldn't hear the radio......So, I ended up ordering 2 DynoMax 2 chamber welded mufflers the next day. I had to drive the stupid thing for 2 days until they arrived. Made a trip back to the Exhaust shop. The guy that did it met me in the parking lot before I could make it to the door. The first words out of his mouth were "Change of plans"?....with a little grin. This is what we ended up with. I missed a spot cleaning the tips on the left inner pipe..... It sounds pretty cool IMO. It's not that loud until you hammer the gas. I left the other mufflers on there, so I have 4 total lol. It's still louder than I thought it would be, but whatever.....The cruising drone is less than my old mufflers, which is surprising. Apparently, even 4 performance mufflers can't tame the raspiness this 3800 emits. It's different, but that may be why I like it.... I actually got to make a video for 'ya. The woman let me borrow the camera that I bought her All that hissing you hear is a fountain in the pond to the left. I took this vid in a subdivision that has 3 occupied homes (8,000 sq ft +) and 7 not finished. It's been like that for 4 years..... | |

btw, did you remove the rez? and what are the part #s for the mufflers? There is no factory anything left in my exhaust, including no cat. The P/N for the SS M80's is 958-MVR203S from Jegs.com The P/N for the DynoMax mufflers is 289-17655 also from Jegs.com As stated above, all 4 mufflers are still on the car. I suppose you could use just one of the M80's as a resonator, but I bought 2 thinking they'd be quiet. So I just left 'em on the car.

| Actually, it's not heavy at all. Those SS M80's are very light and so are the Aluminized DynoMax Muffs. It's now 3" all the way until the end of the backseat, where we used the reducer from 3" to 2-1/2" that came with the headers. Then it goes to the Y-pipe where it splits into 2-1/4" pipes and out the mufflers. The guy that did the install did a great job. Even though those tips are up in the bumper (notice the cutouts), they don't touch. The "end" of the system is rock solid tight with steel hangers dampened by rubber inserts. Before, I could feel the exhaust sway when taking corners. Now, it doesn't move..... Expensive.....lol. I think I ended up spending a grand total of around $400. Let's add this up.... Headers (with wrap and everything) = $500 New Exhaust = $400 LOLOLOL Didn't realize I have damn near $1000 into the exhaust No wonder I'm broke | |
