In my previous searches for new/nos 3800 valve covers I have only been able to find black ones. As Aaron said, the black ones were used on other GM cars with 3800 engines. The only time I see beige ones are at pick n' pulls.

When I replaced my VC gaskets I went with the felpro blue gaskets. I hit my OEM originals with sum degreaser and cleaned the heck out of them. After rinsing them out very well and drying off I painted them with gray high temp engine paint. Ended up looking decent IMO. After about 10,000 miles they look the same. I originally wanted to get the steel version Valve Covers for our 3800 SC Series 2

They were so yellow when I took them off for the gasket replacement. I think I used rubbing alcohol before spraying them with the engine enamel to remove all the grease/oil. No more VC gasket leaks either and looks way better
