I did read your post carefully (multiple times), and I believe I did understand your point. - Quote :

Thank you, and thanks for the apology, btw. - Quote :
- I of course didn't (couldn't) know if the original post was legit, but I thought it wrong to jump to the conclusion that it wasn't--and gave a reason the it might be legit.
I am aware of this, and I appreciate the intention. - Quote :
- If the purpose was to bug others here, he was certainly making progress. If it was legit, the new poster very probably got disgusted with the response he got, and left in a huff.
I agree. This was also the basic implication in my post to Rickw. All of this is fine, but I need to state my point again: It should not be your concern to decide if a post is legit, or where it came from. I will do that. If you are suspicious of a post, please send me a PM. I do appreciate your intent, but there are other ways you can contribute to the board with better results. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

I think you mean 23 out of 26? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Arron, I wasn't suspicious of the original post (whatever it was; this thread may go down in history, and the Guiness Book, as the world's largest highjack). Didn't even think of it as suspicious. I was simply trying to counteract Rick (as was Mark (Eldo), so the poster wouldn't think we were all jerks. That, I suppose is not my business either, but it was my concern. Which is why I countered with something that could indicate the poster was legit. I also did it a 2nd time, concerning the speedometer mention. I do agree that it's not my concern to decide whether a post is legit. I didn't. Still haven't for that matter--I can't really decide. Anyway, might we possibly be allowed to continue this highjack with automotive jokes or at least something less flammable? | |

| I wasn't buying this guy. By the 4th or 5th post, I was getting the impression somebody was trying to get a reaction out of the crowd, with some coincidentally inside knowledge of what we'll react to. Nonetheless, I wasn't sure so I stayed away. I'll give a generic welcome and comment on based off info I can see (this is the first poster I recall seeing that had a screen-name in the name spot - on top of already having a screen-name - pretty unlikely mistake) but I hold off on heavy stuff until I feel like I can respond without making things complicated right off the bat.
I really have to agree with AA though. Even if it is some jerkoff (no need to name anybody), the worst that can happen is we let them ruffle our feathers and they get their jolly's for the day. Let's just keep a neutral attitude, maintain due respect, and treat the newcomers without prejudice. If they start breaking the rules, they'll be gone all the same.

| after reading 2fargone2fast posts, ive realized he/she is some kid who doesnt know anything or not alot about maintaining the riv. got himself a riv with the typical riv problems and cant /understand how to deal with them. wants a rocket and was probably told that a s/c riv would be a good place to start. little does he/she know that the riv requires attention and care more than some other cars........ for some,as it was for me, the rivs peculiarities can be somewhat overwhelming in the begining
hang in there kid.... | |

As Jim said, we were being charitable, and simultaneously indicating the other members' difficulty in understanding the OP's posts. Also, Derek legitimately pointed out some lacking information... Having said that, I isolated 2fargone2fast's posts and went over them slowly a few more times. I realized that, while there were minor problems with spelling, the main problem we all had when reading them was the utter lack of punctuation - which affects 'understandability' far more in writing than in speaking. Here's what we get with a little editorial review: - 2fargone2fast wrote:
- Hello, I'm new to the Riviera line. Been wanting one, now I got it... Now I dont want it no more.
It's just way too much for me. I just want it to run, not with all that extra mods making it loud... Quiet and quick will be fine.
I'm (not overseas) sir's. I just started, and dealing with little symptoms like the kar is dragging or trying to kut off at speeds of 50mph... I wouldn't mind having some knowledge of upgrades to keep it tuned & running right. I ordered a new pulley for the charger - its just that horrible knock. Right away, we can now see that we should probably refer him to the coupler threads, rather than the pulley. Or at least we can ask for more details of the type and timing of the knock. If he is still here, I think we can help him, if he can try to use more periods & commas in his posts... Also, 2fargone2fast, please go into "Profile" at the top of the page, and then "Signature", and fill out your car's information. It is very helpful for others to know your model-year & engine-type when they read a post.
