| What's going on everyone? OK, my problem is with the shifter. First of all the little thing that lets you know what gear your in on the console is stuck so I will need to get in there to see if I can fix that, but the first few times I drove the car what I didn't really notice was that I would get in start up and shift not looking down at the console ya know cuz i've been driving for years and well it's second nature and well it's easy to tell your in drive, but what caught my eye was that the indicator on the dash of what gear your in was blinking & having never seen that before, I grabbed the shifter to whatever and that's when I saw that it was actually in between D & 3rd. and it seems to have a problem with going slightly passed D when I shift from P, R or N to drive. so I figure something just needs to be pulled tight or something along these lines. I just do not know what that is or where I would access this. I'd like to add that this website and all the people who use it are the best for real. Thanks everyone for the help. | |

| Sound like for whatever reason (PO's abuse) your shift gate is worn out. Most Buicks are driven pretty gently so once you determine the problem junkard parts to fix should be OK. Have to take it apart and find junkyard parts to rebuild the console shift gate and indicator wiring. . | |

garrickmc will have to get a service manual (off eBay or somesuch) to get the info needed to take apart the console to work on the shift gate. Albertj

OR, he could go to this post: Write-Up: Center Console RemovalWhere I posted removal and dis-assembly of the console. Removal is on page two and dis-assembly on page one. I guess we don't want to share with new-comers?
