Welcome to the site! hi

Please give a us a little info (year, mileage, etc).

Does it knock only at idle (In gear or out of gear at idle)? When you accelerate does the knock go away?

When the car is first started up, it has the sound of an empty radiator. then it goes away, now when i put it into any gear, it knocks really bad! I put fluid into the supercharger, which was really nasty, and smelled terrible!, and that did not help. It is not coming from the motor, i'm thinking supercharger, or tensioner, what do u think????

If the noise gets worse when giving it gas..... confused That's not good.

The "normal" knock we get is usually the S/C coupler. When it goes bad, it will knock/rattle at idle, and idle only. I suppose that if it's missing (totally worn or broken), the tabs that hold the coupler in place could be slappin and/or missing each other.....but it's doubtful.

The engine has absolutely no knock in Park? Transmission problem? Flywheel cracked? Don't know. I'd have to hear it. You sure it's not from the engine???? You may not hear a rod knock in Park, but put a load on it (in gear) and it may start knockin like crazy. Usually knocks that bad are from the rods (spun bearing/broken).

That's just it! The sound wasn't a progressive thing it just started one day, it is not coming from the motor, it makes a sound like there is no water in the radiotor when i start it, then when i put it in gear, It knocks really bad! but the knock seems to be coming from the supercharger!.

Well, maybe the coupler really is that bad!? But the whole "in gear" thing is what bothers me. That doesn't make any sense. Maybe your Harmonic Balancer (crank pulley) took a poo poo? See if you can hear the knocking from inside the RF wheel well.....

why is it only loud in gear?

Because the noise is related to a powertrain component not necessarily only the engine. Engine, transmission , motor mounts,

Please tell us (me) how long you've had the car and when it started making the noises.

Also--when you shift the transmission from reverse to drive (or any other forward gear) do you ahve the car completely stopped or not (is it drifting)?

Also--have you recently done any of the following:

- run over speedbumps too fast
- hit/scraped a parking bar (those concrete bars meant to keep you from driving too far into a head/tail-in parking place
- run over anything in the road such as a manhole cover too high/low. any pothole, trash/jetsam in the road, or hit/run over an animal?
- had your oil changed at a quick-lube place?

Please let us (me) know.

I think I know what's wrong.

You may need/want to take some pictures under your car, cell phone cam will do, if we ask can you do that apnd post?

It sits really low, but I have not hit any speed bumps at all! and i always have the brake totally engaged when putting in gear! I really wish you could hear it! if i had a camcorder and recorded it u think that would work?

A noise only in gear would put these things on my list:

Torque convertor
internal transmission part
loose/broken powertrain mount

I think this list is a great start point.

Monica, are you going to do the work yourself or have a mechanic fix it?

Well,I don't know. It all depends on what the problem actually is! I'm thinking about driving it around the corner to goodyear and having them take a LOOK and LISTEN, to see if they are any help in narrowing down this issue.
