| Ok guys, got the motor in, wired up and after priming the oil fired it up. It fired up good for about 5 seconds and died and now it wont start. I assume its because after the lifters pumped up the intake valve is staying open while its firing because its firing out of the throttle body. So with the vs cam, does anyone have a good starter .bin with a little bit advanced timing I can get? | |

| Did you align the timing marks correctly? Firing out of the intake/ throttle body sounds like its out of time. Your .bin shouldnt be an issue, ive heard of cars starting after XP cams so you shouldnt be having a problem. Check your plug wire routing and maybe pull the front cover back of just to be sure its in-time. | |

| Yeah the timing dots were right on. If it were out of time there I don't think it would have fired up for the 5 seconds that it did. | |

| How did it sound when it ran for the 5 seconds? What is the security light doing? And are there any DTCs? | |

| Security light is flashing now. Haven't really gotten a chance to scan yet. Did pull that front cover off to check timing since I wasnt the one that set it the first time and:

| Cam at 6 o'clock, crank at 12. Just like the manual says. | |

| While I have the front cover off I'm replacing both cam and crank sensors. | |

| Whatever you do don't make any PCM changes until you have it running right. It should run fine with the VS cam on the stock tune. You may not see full potential, but you don't want to throw another variable into the mix. Troubleshoot it like any other no-start situation.
That said, I don't see the dot on the crank gear?

| lol, one of the guys at zzp said I could have installed the cam off-zero whatever that means. I think I'm going to put it all back together and figure out if the makeshift vaccum routing I spoke about in my build thread has anything to do with it. I'm probably going to work on porting my stock sc case this week and put everything back the way its supposed to be. | |

| Id still say its a timing issue, firing out of an intake SCREAMS that its out of time. Vacuum wouldnt cause this, id look into the info youre getting from zzp. | |

| OK, must have been a vaccum issue because I ported the original supercharger and bolted it on last night. Ran all the lines like they are supposed to and it fired up today fine. Whatever was coming back through the throttle body could have been the engine just reversing because of a weak battery couldn't crank it all the way over or something. Either way the beast is running. A bit rough, but I'll run some scans on it tonight while I'm letting it break in and go from there.

| and now we are back to not running again. Ran fine earlier. Went out to start breaking the motor in and the damn thing wont start again. Have both fuel and spark.

| Were you able to scan or anything while it was running?
I'd say start wiggling your harnesses and and stuff. Could be a bad wire. ICM loom ground, stress points like the firewall connector, etc.

| Yeah scans came back with no DTC's but it was idling a little rough. I've went over every inch of both sides of the harness. Nothing loose or disconnected. Grounds on both sides are good. This thing is going to drive me insane. | |

| It has to be the injectors not firing or something. I'm getting spark to the plugs but when I take them out they are not even damp. Is there a particular fuse or something for those? Getting plenty of fuel to the rail, I seriously just don't think the injectors are firing. | |

| are you using the 42.5lb injectors or stock ones? if they are stock, are they off the riv or from another motor? _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Stock off the riviera. This thing started and ran fine for 30 seconds. I went back out 5 minutes later and ran it for another minute. Ran fine minus a small miss both times. All the sudden I go back out there 2 hours later and it just cranks. | |

| crank sensor get damaged? IIRC that controls injector pulses. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | I'm going to unplug it and plug it back in, had a small coolant leak from the water pump that could have gotten it wet. | |
