hey i just got my 96 rivi SC heart I LOVE IT! i am new to the modding scene tho and i don't know much about cars, so far the most i'm doing is changing the supercharger oil (first time in the life of the car, 117k miles) and also custom rims put on by the previous owner, by the way anyone know the brand and/or model of them cause i can't figure it out haha. pics below happy howdy :) Dscf0710 howdy :) Dscf0712

Welcome, Chris. Those rims + tires look very familiar to me... so familiar that I'd say that the previous owner may have been/may be a member of this site? Not sure though...

Regardless, welcome. Hope you find the answers to all of your questions.

Those look like Vogue rims to me, by the way. I am not sure of the model.

He very well might have, he was a mechanic actually and his wife drove it, they owned it for 10 years and before that 5 years owned in florida, so i'm very happy with it happy! oh and what is a gutted intake? i'm seeing that term a lot on here, sorry i'm a noob sad sweet cars you guys got by the way shocked

No problem! And a gutted intake is, basically, your stock intake rig with all of the restrictive baffles taken out of it. Taking those baffles out was, I think, the first thing that I did with my car. If I remember correctly, they are red (you will know them when you see them). Taking them out allows more air to travel into your supercharger much more freely than otherwise. Removing them will also probably allow you to hear more of your supercharger whine, though don't expect it to be much louder.

Hell, it's a free mod and the things were probably just added to help keep the angry old people that once made up a big majority of Buick's customers happy. lol headshot

And don't worry about being a noob! We were all noobs at one point, and we are all still noobs at something! lmao

oohh I see, I think I saw a youtube video on how to do that at some point but I thought it might be a bad idea because I live on a dirt road and I didn't know if that was a good idea... it gets very dusty sad is there a write up on it if i could tho? happy!

https://rivperformance.editboard.com/t680-write-up-gutting-the-stock-air-box?highlight=gutting

Filters by themselves are designed to filter out the little particles like dust. So I probably wouldn't worry about it. I would check the old filter anyway, and maybe think about getting a new one though.
