96 throwing a p0171 code. No misfires currently. New MAF (getting the SES before it was replaced). When the car first starts, it shifts harder than normal, almost seems like it has more low end torque than before the SES-the throttle is very touchy. Doesn't seem like a vacume leak, at least I cannot find one. All the lines were replaced last summer with silicone. There were no new changes or anything done resently that might trigger this code. Was driving one day and the car stalled....drove a few miles and got p0171, p0172, p0300. Cleared the codes, now just get p0171 after 20 mins of driving consistently. Any ides that might help me?

sounds like you may have a break in the wire for the MAF sensor. It seems to be a pretty common wire to break right at the firewall.

When you unplug the maf and run the car does the car behave differently?
do you have access to a scan tool to read the MAF hz?

I have an aeroforce, not sure if this is the measurement you meant.

MAF FREQUENCY-reads 2500 - 2800 at idle.

I originally was thinking the MAF, but the readings seem ok, flow lbs, etc (also was behaving the same way before the new MAF, p0171 and p0172)

So I solved the issue. It was the 5 month old ZZP fuel rail. I was pulling p0171 and p0172 codes. Went back to the OEM rail and it runs fine now.

Which type of rail is it, and does anything appear wrong with the rail?
