| Hello all! My name is Joel, and I just purchased my first Buick: a 1995 NA Riviera with 167k miles. I got it really cheap because it has transmission problems, and I plan to fix it up and make it my daily driver. I am hopeful that the fine people on this forum will be able to help me diagnose the car's issues.
The previous owner took the Riv off the road because the trans. went out suddenly. It lost reverse altogether, and in forward it doesn't want to go above 2nd gear. When the car is running, it makes a noise like something has broken off inside and is rattling around, but only in park and neutral; it smooths out in gear.
Anyway, this is my new project, much to my wife's chagrin. I will post some pics soon, though it's not the prettiest Riv out there.

| Thanks for the welcomes.
I'll post to the other section of the forum, though the engine cover on my Riv says "Series II". I think the SC model had a Series I in 1995, but the NA model had a Series II, based on my research so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong. | |

Yes, but the transmissions should be the same for both motors in 95. Your immediate problem seems to be the transmission. There is also this Forum, https://rivperformance.editboard.com/f16-series-ii-n-a-engine-transmission-pcm _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| Thanks for the compliment! She actually is very photogenic. In person she looks a bit more worn and dull. Still, once I get the transmission sorted out she'll be a wonderful ride. | |
