| Maybe you can enlist someone who speaks good English. Make a phone call and talk to someone at the dealer. If need be, you can FAX the proof of ownership to them, and maybe that will work. Just an idea.
Or, remove the locks and have a locksmith make you keys. You just need the door/trunk keys, correct? _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

The problem is, he is in France and doesn't speak very good English. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

Do you mean the factory GM remote, or is it an aftermarket remote? You can only unlock the doors, or can start the car with the remote also? I've emailed my local GM dealer and asked for suggestions on how you might best be able to get new keys. It would be nice to hear a little background on how your Riv came to be in France. It seems a bit odd that you'd have a remote that works, but no keys?

| Albert, I assume you just referred him to a French-speaking dealer in Montreal... EXCELLENT idea, we should have thought of that sooner!
I did email my local dealer last night and they were going to investigate what they could do for you, but did not hear any update today.

I did email my local dealer last night and they were going to investigate what they could do for you, but did not hear any update today. heh heh if it's such a great idea maybe you could give me a vote (just kidding) actually i told him: 1) the translation software he's using is turning his French into Spanish Hamburger and I use Google Translate for speed then make some corrections -- which, I told him, is not much better... 2) he ought to first simply ask an Opel, Cadillac or Chevrolet dealer in France (there are several) about a key 3) if that did not work he should telephone a Buick dealer in Quebec (there are several, I gave one example). Problem with that is that some Parisian Urban French think Quebecois is not French and won't talk to the Quebecois... that's his hangup not mine... anyway for this or the Opel dealers he'll need the VIN and he'll probably have to provide (faxed) copies of his papers proving ownership. 4) what I neglected to mention to him is that the trunk lock cylinder is GM part number 19113597 and is still available, even RockAuto shows them, it will set him back like $25 US plus shipping for a new one. Then a locksmith should be able to re-tumble his door locks to match the new trunk lock and key if he wants to remove the cylinders (it's tedious but not difficult) and a replacement key can be ground to fit at a hardware store, he can get the blanks off eBay if not available locally.
