so i was on my way home tonight from the store and about a mile from the house i hear a loud squeal thought maybe a brake grabbin but i got home and in park it continued. its dark so i let it cool and then took a flashlight and checked the oil, coolant and still warm atf all good. due to powersteerin placement i cant check that till morning but any ideas folks????

btw when its wet the belt squeals but its been dry for 3 days here. also i checked the belts they are both in great shape. im at a loss

Check for moisture from a leaking water pump. If no leak, spray with water bottle - if it squeals more, it means belts is slipping. If water makes noise go away, it's a misaligned pulley.

no water leakage. squirted water and it stayed about the same. it sounds like metal on metal. im thinking its a pulley. o and ps fluid is good too

If you have metal idler bullies, with engine off slip off the belts and turn idlers bu hand. Replace the ones that do not turn properly.

well i opened the hood in the sunlight for the first time since this started and i imediately saw the problem. the a/c pulley had metal shavings on it! i just replaced it last summer but with a USED ac compressor. wont do that again so as soon as possible i got to buy a new ac compressor

Just to be sure, detension the belt and try moving the AC compressor on its mounts. If it's worked loose, it can cause the problem you're having.

At least 3. The AC pump is mounted to a cast iron bracket, which is mounted to the block. Check the bolts connecting the pump to the bracket.
