| Without seeing it firsthand, sounds like it could be an exhaust leak from the downpipe gasket. Also check the condition of the engine/transmission mounts.
I think you are saying that the noise is only present in Drive, at a stop. What about Reverse?

| This is a longshot but you might want to check motor/trans mounts and harmonic balancer. | |

| Get your ear on it to hear exactly where it is coming from. I always use a broom stick to set on the motor in different areas to hear. My motor is being rebuilt in about a month or so due to a slight wrist knock. I was hearing it in the car and when I was stopped and stuck my head below the car to listen to the bottom of the motor. Only audible when car is in drive with the brake on. Goes away if put in neutral or take off. It sounded at first like an exhaust leak but further investigation proved otherwise. I have 178k so it's time anyway for a refresh! If you find this is your problem, best thing to do is drive gently and slip into neutral at stop lights, easing the load on the motor. | |

| First, unplug the electrical connections at the 6 injectors by squeezing the metal clip inward. You will need to remove a few bolts that hold down the fuel rail and then gently pull the injectors out of their ports, leaving them attached to the fuel rail.. You should be able to leave the fuel hose connected and just lift the rail up for access to the seals.. Then replace all rubber o rings. A light coating of vasoline will help before installing them back in the car.
Please chime in if there is anything I forgot as I'm writing this from memory. Not a difficult job if you take your time. Good luck to you. Dave

| The vasoline will help the o rings slide into their ports without tearing them. I believe it will also help them to seal. | |

| Just tackle one thing at a time. Leaking injectors is a serious safety issue and should be addressed immediately. Also a very inexpensive repair and the car should also run better after this.
Which mount are you looking for? The front and left side mounts are repairable and write ups are on this sight to do them. The rear transmission mount is readily available at any parts store. Headlamps are not available new or aftermarket, but are easy enough to find used at many junk yards. If you have a pick n pull in your area, you can usually check their websites for cars in their inventory. Headlamps are the same from 95-99, Riviera only.
