Has anyone replaced both the mid and the tweeter in the doors with a component system? What did you use and how did you do it?
I'm installing a head unit and a sub woofer.

Thanks.

Crutchfield has some good choices. Watch out for adverse impedance mismatches.

The factory tweeters are actually pretty good. I believe I ran mine in parallel with a set of 2 way Polk speakers. Just a factory radio. Been that way for years, no problem.

If it were me, I'd get a pair of 5 1/4" coaxial speakers (tweeters are mounted on the pole piece). Spend at least $65 on a new pair. $100-180 dollars will get you to the next level. Install them in the stock midrange location and leave the OE tweeters in place, disconnected. The OE tweeters are okay, but they positioned them in a terrible location.

For the sub, there are some small, powered all-in-one deals out there. Infinity used to have one called BassLink. These cost a bit more than throwing cheap subs in a box and mounting an amp, but they're plug & play and will sound great. Some of the used ones are a deal.

So, there is no reason to use a component speaker? Just toss some 5.25s in there?
