Logically the next step for me, but not sure if I'm ready to spend the $$$. If/when I do, it'll probably be this one:

It's good to see the prices coming down. How much room under the hood do we have?

i helped the guys in the local club install a SS I/C on a GTP the other week and it was pretty easy. the hardest part is remembering where all the sensors and vac lines go.
to answer codith's question, the stock fuel rails either need to be cut and lengthened or buy new ones to alow the I/C to fit, tho i dont think the series 1 s/c engines have rails that go over the housing??
a zzp SS will fit fine under our hood, but i dont know about any others. we have about 2" of clearence before touching the fire pad on the hood.
oh, and the intake tube will have to be reworked due to the new angel the I/C creates. just a warning to those of you with non flexable FWI's...Aaron suspect

just a reminder the SSIC kit will not work with the series 1. And the fuel rail does go over the SC on the Series 1 engine. study

W-Body has fuel logs for a little over $100, made from OEM rails. Look good to me.

Mr.Riv, I hear you on the FWI. I would need to make some sort of adapter/extension out of plastic/silicone to make it reach the TB.

I will buy the ZZ shortstack and install it when the weather cools. Just looking to run a 3.4 pulley. I need the cooling to combat the blast furnace I live in.

Should easily be able to run a 3.4" with SS IC and t-stat/plugs, imo. It's a pricier route, but I think it's safer in the long run.

PostSubject: Is there any riviera running a Intercooler?   Write-Up: Installing Intercooler (IC) EmptyWed Jan 30, 2008 12:46 pm

I am curious is or has there been any riviera with a IC (not counting the TT drag car riviera). I have a setup reday to go on the car but the Front mount heat exchanger is proving to be a challenge. I would prefer not to cut anything but I don't see a choice.

Any and all help is appreciated.

[img]I plan on putting on the new style intercooler on when it comes out in April and have pondered the exchanger location too. I think I will move the latch bracket support at the bottom and fabricate another brace to move it out 4-5"... see below. That way you can fit a nice large 25" x 19" x 4" deep exchanger (or whatever size would fit) Look on ebay for the exchangers. There are thousands and several vendors will build custom dimensions.

Thrasher is no longer in business. Most other 3800 vendors are designing new style intercooler because the cores they used were Ford Probe heater cores that are no longer available. I believe oldsman105 has the intercooler but you still need to run a heat exchanger... his question was concerning location of the exchanger.

I have seen the latter style but have no knowledge with them.

NO INTERCOOLER for me, i dont plan on using one for the supercharger. ive got enough airflow between the cam and valves that i dont have to worry about kr too much yet.

my intentions are twin turbo.

eric that picture you showed is more of a turbo intercooler, or for a side-mounted supercharger. You need a path to get air from the S/C into that exchanger, then back to the intake manifold. You could use an exchanger like that if you put on an L36 LIM and a side-mounted S/C but it's kind of impractical.

alex, if you do go turbo you'll need to worry about where to put your intercooler core. Our front bumper is certainly a challenging location.

eric, if you use a more standard w-body style heat exchanger (somebody had one with two small coolers on either side of the hood latch, intense maybe?) it's much narrower so you can fit it in front of the radiator with some creative bracket fabbing.

I'm thinking about doing an intercooler as my next major mod. If I get a Short Stack intercooler from ZZP will it fit right under my hood? What about their normal intercooler?

I like the idea of possibly doing two very small exchangers on the sides.

Hmmm I'll need to start measuring when I'm at the yard. Olds..how much room do you have in measurements?
