| Hi, new to the site, and just doing some homework. My '95 SC Riv exhaust seems to have a whiter exhaust in a warm June here in Minnesota than it should. I have read many write-ups and problems concerning that lower intake gasket. I have goggled for quite some time, and have used the search here. I probably found the answer, but now on information overload, and missed it. I'm looking for a felpro or GM part number for a metal lower Intake gasket set for Series 1 3800 Vin 1. Metal seems the way to go if possible. Seems like most info are for Series 2 gaskets, both old style and new, or an updated gasket for them.. Going to do more trouble-shooting on the Riv, hopefully won't need it. Had some time, and was looking ahead at parts I might need. Surprised this seems to be hard to find info on that one,for me anyway. Maybe one isn't available ? Thanks very much for your time, Dave. | |

| Thanks much for the info Larry! I wasn't sure what I was looking at from the small pictures on the internet from that part number, I guess I was thinking it still might be fabric/plastic replacement. Kept seeing sure enough it was an "OEM Replacement", although not much description on it being a metal gasket, that I ran across. Thanks again. | |

| As far as I know, there is no metal replacement LIM gasket for the series one. For whatever reason the series one didn't have the same troubles with it as the S2. _________________ | |

| I ran across this - ACDelco 12353086 Intake Manifold Gasket Kit. Wonder if it is similar in construction to the Fel-Pro MS 949181 My engine overheated due to low coolant this 10 degree morning. 20 miles from home, and 20 miles to work...had it towed back to hometown. Radiator had crack in the plastic side. So new radiator goes in tomorrow. The shop I had it towed (only one open so early) said the LIM was also shot. The engine oil, and oil filler cap looks OK, no milk. Are they trying to squeeze me for more work? Anyway, I am going to drive it a couple miles to a mechanic I trust. | |

The oil and coolant doesn't have to be mixed for the LIM gaskets to be bad. Milky oil/coolant is the absolute worst scenario of failed gaskets. Pull the Radiator cap and see of it's nasty. There might be oil in the coolant, not coolant in the oil. Also, grab a flashlight and look around the LIM for external leaks. They usually leak externally just under the Throttle body and under the S/C snout. Oil will also pool up in the little valleys of the LIM.... | |
