| just curious if anybody else's car has a luggage rack like this on it this one's on a park ave, and it looks like it's black or graphite but mine's the exact same except in chrome. I believe it was a dealer added accesory for gm cars, i've seen them before on buicks (usually grandma-special presidential editions), as well as the occasional caddy. | |

| Please post a pic of yours. I've never seen one on an 8th gen Riviera.
No offense, but I've always thought cars with deep trunks look strange with exterior luggage racks. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| It reminds me of the roof rack from my wife's 80 Chevette. Before the hook drug it off, I took off the chrome monstrosity with plans of using it on something. Never happened. That car had about 285,000 on it before the pan gasket kept holding oil. | |

| I do like the way that those particular deck racks have a sort of wanna-be spoiler look about them without being huge towards the rear of the assembly. | |

| That's actually pretty damn cool... and hey, at least you're putting it to good use. But (according to a lot of people I know) the Riv in and of itself is a boat so you don't really need that canoe | |

| LOL isn't the trunk space enough room for anything? I have my whole back seat removed + open trunk. My bike and my big ass snowboard fit just fine. But, dang, a canoe! that's hardcore.

| I'll just put it this way. If I saw your Riv with the rack (especially if with a canoe) I'd definitely follow it until your next stop to find out more | |

| I am not a huge fan of trunk luggage racks in general, but I have to say that given the overall styling of the 95-99 Riviera, I would think a luggage rack would look horribly out of place.... but yours doesn't.
It still isn't my personal cup of tea, but I think it looks suprisingly good on the Riviera now that I've seen one.
Now, when you say you suspect it is a rare option... was it actually a factory option, or just a dealer add-on the original owner had installed? I don't recall seeing this listed in the 1995 brochure as an option from the factory.
And yes, major thumbs up for configuring your Riviera to carry a canoe. I'm sure the Buick designers would have been impressed.

| Al,
Thanks for the compliment on the canoe, and regarding the rack, I believe the it was a dealer add on, because i've seen them on many gm vehicles, I think they just kept them at the dealerships and sold them to people who wanted one, and I have the original sticker from '97 and it doesn't say anything about a luggage rack on the factory options
