| Hey Rachel Some basic things to do to actually see if your tire is leaking air are to: check tire pressure and compare, listen for any hissing sound, or put the wheel in a tub of water and rotate. Here's why you might want to do each... Tire pressure: Check tire pressure on one day. Next day, check it again. Check it again the next, and then the next. See if you find the number is dropping steadily. If so, you might have an issue Listen for noises: I had a leaking valve stem on a tire once and you could hear a very faint hissing sound from around the valve stem. If you don't hear anything, that doesn't necessarily mean the tire is fine. It just would mean the leak is faint and gradual. Water: If you have an area you can fill with water and spin the wheel around in, you can look at the water and see if any bubbles are being emitted from the tire at any particular area (the seal between the rim and tire, the valve stem, etc.). Just like if you are in a pool and let air out, bubbles rise to the surface. The same will happen with the tire. To me that tire looks fine... not something you shouldn't drive on. But just check and see if you think you've got a problem! Have fun | |

| The first thing you want to determine is the age of the tire. If it's over seven years old, it's not safe; internal deterioration that you can't see.
Check the pressure with a tire gauge each morning when the tire is cool. If the pressure is going down, take it to a tire shop and have them look for the leak.
The money spent on good tires is a cheap life insurance policy.
Take time to read this, then check the age of your tires.

PS, one quick way to find a leak in a tire is to mix some dish soap in water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the entire tire with the solution. An air leak will cause the soap in the water to bubble.

| I bought "good" used tires for several years and now no longer buy them. A set of low cost new tires at Wal-Mart aren't much more, and you'll know the tires will be fresh, which is important. Old tires aren't safe - you don't want to worry about a surprise blow-out on the freeway. | To check for leaks, take the tire off and spray soapy water around the tire and bead. If it's leaking from anywhere, you'll know really fast. I have a mix of (only a little!) dish soap and water in a spray bottle by my tire machine. The soap foams up wherever there is a leak. (big bubbles for a big leak)
I'm also in the 'no used tires' camp - there are so many ways to damage a tire that even if there is good tread left you are taking a big risk on them - why were they tires replaced if the tread was so good? In some rare cases, it's because two were worn and two were not, and they were sold 4 new tires, but in more cases they were chasing out a vibration or tired of leaks, etc.

| Yeah I found a little leak on my right front tire and it's very small so I'm going to walmart to get it patch or plug it in. The leaking is on the tread so it's possible to get it fix for $6.00 to $10.00 | |

| I was able to get it plug at wal-mart and they did it for free and that's awesome. They found a nail in the tire it's was a very small nail. Well the plug is working and stopped the leak from coming out of the tire, it's good again.

| Check your tire pressures.
Radial tires always appear to bulge a little at the area of road contact. You **must** use a gauge to check the air pressure in the tire if you are to know what if anything is amiss.
