| Once we cut out the back of the plastic box in the stereo section of the dashboard, are we then able to fit pretty much all single DIN head units? Or will we still run into issues with some makes/models? I know some units are deeper than others, so I was wondering what people have discovered when fitting head units. | |

| My Alpine required the removal of the rear of the plastic box to fit flush. Otherwise it stuck out like 2 inches..... | |

| Thanks, but what I'm asking is that once I cut the rear of the box out, will all single DINs fit, or are some longer than others that will still interfere with whatever is behind that box. Just don't want to buy a unit only to learn that it is longer than others and won't sit flush. Crutchfield doesn't list demensions of the units on their website. It sure would help in this case. | |

| Dont quote me but i worked fpr the geek squad for 4 years and never had any probs with any single dins fitting in a buick hardest part is tucking the wires out of the way for a flush mount but please remeber if u want to retain steering wheel controls including temp you will need a pac or simaler steering wheel intergration module! | |

| My full size Kenwood fit without cutting the inside box at all. the wires and harness got tucked up in the corner near the gauge. However cutting the box would allow much more room and also allow airflow to the unit. I may cut mine next time I have the unit out. | |

| My stock radio is in pretty bad shape, cassette player doesn't work so no aux input, should I find a used OEM headunit or Do a single din aftermarket? | |

Personally for me the AUX port and USB port is worth its weight in gold. as you can see I have a very small, 15gb flash drive in my head unit and this is all I pretty much use.

I don't really see a point in getting a single unit. For a little more you can just get a nice double with all of the features that you could ever want. Plus I don't think singles look that great on our dash. Doubles fit and look much nicer IMO.

| I do like the idea of a double, but do all of the stock radios go bad eventually? I found one off of a park ave for 40$ buy it now or should I not screw around with these old headunits | |

| It depends what you want. Mine was iffy when I got the car and messing with it only made it worse. I personally wouldn't screw with it. Not to mention the better sound quality and tuning options with a nice unit. Adding a sub is also easier to do on an aftermarket. | |

| Double din is a pain to install in a 95, which is why I haven't replaced mine yet still figuring out how I am going to do it | |

| Do not get a stock radio they all eventually go out. For the money you may as well buy a new one.

Source: Car audio school and shop experience Ehhh...... If you get a working stock unit it should last as long as an aftermarket as long as it's taken care of. That being said, it is worth it to just get a nice aftermarket one for the price unless you absolutely have to have a stock unit which for some people on here is understandable (stupid low mileage/amazing condition).
