Low voltage issue or bad equipment? Empty
PostSubject: Low voltage issue or bad equipment?    Low voltage issue or bad equipment? EmptyMon Feb 17, 2014 7:42 am

Hello everyone. I noticed yesterday that my voltage meter on my radar detector no longer read 13.5 volts or better like it usually reads. It was between 11.9 & 12.3. I can not find my multimeter to test it so this morning I connected the scan tool while the engine was running. It said battery was at 13.6. The radar detector now flickered between 10.9 & 11.2. Can I rely on the scan tool? The car started strong with no indication of a weak battery. Thanks!

I would say that your scan tool is more than likely a more accurate diagnostic tool then a radar detector. Also, if your looking to avoid speeding tickets, the radar detector is likely to be the more accurate choice. If voltage was truly 10.9 to 11.2, you would have other issues showing up. Try cleaning the connector that your radar detector is plugged into.

How is your radar detector plugged in?
