| Hey... Bought a nice pearl white '96 this past week in Cleveland, my third (selling my POS '00 740il to anyone interested in self abuse). My first Riv was a silver '97 and she treated me to 275K miles before one of our whitetails self destructed on her front end. Still drive-able but sold her anyway and picked up a blue '98. She gave me 430K before giving up the ghost a year and a half ago. By my math that gives me 705K behind the wheel of these darlings. Anyone out there beat that? The new girl is tight, no leaks and I'm happy to have her in the stable. The only real problem is the power seat- the PO (or someone) has cut the power wires to the motors. I'll be looking to the local 'yard to remedy that in the next week or two. Nice site! Will be adding comments to some posts to share some of my experience with what I consider the best GM car made... | |

| Alan, congrats on finding another one of these great cars. I hope you can get another 430,000 out of this Pearl white you just picked up! | |

| That could be a record in ANY 2 vehicles anywhere! (maybe not aircraft...)
Congrats on the new ride!

| Well, the first week and a half have gone OK. Repaired most of the issues; cleaned MAF, EGR, changed oil, plugs (18 years old & rusted in- yikes!!), air filter... This weekend is fuel filter, look at pulling injectors, changing SC oil and see if I can get the DR seat to function. Someone has cut wires under there to the forward/aft & up/down motors. Without the F/A function its gonna be a problem to pull the seat but we'll see... On the good side she's leak free; brakes straight & true with no wobble, shutter or vibration and is still very quiet (good window seals)... | |

if you are electrically handy you can use test leads w/alligator clips or test probes to put 12v on the f/a motors to move the seat. Disconnect the car batt before you go probing. Albertj | |

| Three motors unplugged & wires cut. Have harness from non memory 96 & connections appear to fit. Yes, testing as I go & splicing wires to connectors. So far- GR & BL run front up/dn motor... Thinking about getting my 6 yr old granddaughter to plug the connections- not sure I can get my arms in there! | |
