| I want to change the computer controlled carb to a non and I dont know what distributor to use. I have a edelbrock 9903 and I found an a1cardone 30-1694 and not sure if they will work to bypass the computer. | |

| You'll definitely need the older style GM HEI distributor with Vacuum advance to convert it over. That isn't your biggest problem though. Your problem is going to be the transmission. Converter lockup happens based on inputs from the carb (throttle position). You'll burn the trans up VERY fast if you rid the engine of those sensors. Could you make it work? Sure. Will it benefit you in any way? No. From what I've read, it's way easier just to buy a reman Quadrajet E4MC than it is to convert everything over. On top of that, you'll probably lose economy and some power by doing so. | |

| I Found a wireing diagram using a momentary switch to energize the TCC. Will that work to keep the trans from burning up? | |

| As long as you could get the TCC to lock up in at least 4th gear, you'll be ok. It'd have to be locked and also be able to be released. Otherwise, driving it is going to suck. I'm sure somebody around (maybe not here) has made it work. I myself aren't sure how to make it work. I suppose if I had a complete diagram of the original setup, I could figure out the logic and then confirm yay or nay to whether it's possible. | |

| I found the diagram on http://www.radar58.com/eldo/trans.html. I'm not sure on how to post them on this site or how to send them to you. | |
