unconnected sensor ?? Empty

hello...have 98 riv. looking for a leak under the main pulley axle area and I noticed a unconnected sensor. the plug in is right behind the pulley..have no idea what this for..or how long this has been unconnected any help would be appreciated...thanks

Ummm....that's the Crank Sensor, and no idea how your car is running without it plugged in.

Down there, could be the oil pressure or knock sensor as well. There is also a connector for some of the variable assist power steering systems in that area.
