| Subject: Any other GM rims that fit original chrome centre caps? Tue Aug 09, 2016 6:04 pm | |
| My rims won't hold air anymore so I need to change them, and I have just bought new tires 2 months ago. Plus I really like the original look. I have the chrome 7 spoke riviera rims. I saw that some Cadillac chrome rims have similar looking centre caps, so I was wondering if they are interchangeable? could I get the Cadillac 16'' and switch centre caps? | |

If its a bead leak you can use a Scotchbrite wheel on a drill to remove the corrosion then paint with clear epoxy wheel paint. If it is a porosity issue mix up some jbweld, clean off the porosity area and lay a layer of epoxy on it. Either way, then you don't need to mess with the wheels.

| I mount and balance tires in my garage, and I run into this all the time. I have a 'rust remover' 3m wheel on a drill next to my rim clamp machine dedicated to cleaning the goop off of beads. If it's really bad I will spray a new clearcoat on the inside of the rim and let it dry overnight before putting the wheels back on. This method has cured 99% of leaky rims for me. | |

Yep. Sometimes people use bead sealer instead of epoxy to deal with porosity of the rims but I am not sure how long/how well that works.
