| My 1999 Riv ABS/Traction Control system light is on and I have no ABS. The brakes still function but I would like my ABS back. Most things I am seeing are telling me the system can provide codes if you have the right tool (GM Tech II). My Actron code reader doesn't read ABS codes. Is there any way to get the codes without the GM tool? I suspect a wheel sensor is bad but I need means of confirmation...

| You need something "better" than a generic code reader. You can buy one that's a step up from it that reads ABS, and will also show live data. They aren't cheap though. They're around $300 for an "entry level" name-brand advanced scan tool.
Harbor Freight has a cheapy that reads ABS http://www.harborfreight.com/can-obd-ii-scan-tool-with-abs-60794.html

| My scanner locked up and same thing for free parts store scan. My best advice is start by checking each sensor.
Search "traction" on this site. There's plenty of threads.

| I just had this happen to me. ABS/Traction Ctrl light on after a minute upon start up. Had my friend with Tech2 scan it. Right side front sensor bad. No bearing noise at all. replaced front hub bearing with Timken bearing. Got lucky, was made in U.S.A. from Rockauto for 85.00. Actually ordered 2 bearings. The other was made in South Korea. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

You ordered 2 and 1 is usa and the other is south korean? Yes, one had made in USA on the box, AND stamped into the part itself. The other said made in south Korea on the box, nothing on the part. They both looked the same. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU
