| The part # I was given from the parts department at the dealership is 19180114. When i search that part# in Google and ebay they all start around 300-350. The alternate AC Delco part#MU-1726. The price on them listed is around 250 when typed into Google. Are they same part listed with different numbers because one is the manufacturer and the other is the retailer or is AC Delco the aftermarket part? | |

| Some stuff Delco makes, some stuff they buy and label. They are pretty good at hitting their quality standards, which are usually good.
Depending on various factors the part they sell as Delco - i.e., this fuel pump - may be OEM or may be good aftermarket. Delco's always had its own numbers for parts and when you get the part in the box it is as likely as not to have the GM number printed/stamped/molded on. I suspect the Delco pump is aftermarket now, unless you get NOS, because it's been a while since the Riv was made so you would not have OE production runs to box up as repair parts.
There are pump replacement kits for about $50 from ACDelco that just replace the wear parts, they are fiddly to install but supposedly work well. When my OE pump quit I got a Carter after learning the dealership was replacing the OE pumps. That is, a car they'd put a replacement OE pump on would be back in 18 months or so for another. They didn't have that problem with the Delco parts kit, or the Bosch or Carter pumps (some of their mechanics are real gear heads, they dirt track race etc. and that experience informs their repair work). So... they claimed they could not get a Delco pump for me (which was true, could not get it that day) and got a Carter from a local parts jobber. I have not had to talk to the fuel pump since, the replacement has run (far) longer than the original.

| I used the Delphi pump. Looked exactly like the OE pump I replaced. The only difference was you had to rewire one of the pigtails which they supplied, very easy.

http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1114549&cc=1303322&jsn=418 Generally can't go wrong with Delphi; Delphi in some cases makes the Delco parts and in some cases does not.

| So I guess my question now is which pump is better? The ACDelco one or the Delphi? | |

| They look exactly the same. I have the Delphi for about a month. Replaced the stock AC Delco pump not because it failed, but because the tank and locking ring was rotted. Stock pump was still good at 172K. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| I too have the DELPHI pump and it's been installed for about 5 months now. The gauge reading is pretty damn accurate and, in my opinion, seems too "sip" less gas (unless you get into it) at cruising speed or that may just be me because prior to the install I hadn't had a working gas hand in about 2 yrs! . The instructions had said to wire it correctly instead of splicing. I spliced it anyway and to me seems like it getting the correct amount of fuel (I have not tested this with a gauge or anything) just my opinion based on performance and feel. | |

| So if ACDelco is the stock pump, what made you guys choose Delphi pump over the ACDelco? Theyre pretty much identical in price. | |

| Not really sure, but the price difference might have been more when I bought mine years ago. I bought it just to have it, as my Riv had over 150K on the stock pump. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

Only reason I decide on DELPHI was because the guy at the auto place told me that they were the EXACT same parts. Only difference being is name branding. I have come to realize ANYTHING with the name AC DELCO is going to be more expensive no matter what. Not say I don't buy there parts but, If it's a part that has the same quality/specs i'll take that and, the $100 less possibly that I won't be paying.

| So it seems if price wasn't a factor you guys would have opted for the ACDelco pump. Only thing that is confusing is on rockquto it states "Actual OE part" underneath the Delphi pump and "GM Original Equipment " underneath the ACDelco pump. I want to get which ever one originally came with the car. | |

| Delphi is a supplier of OEM GM parts. Been that way for some time I think. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU
