| Probably a weird question but, does anyone know where I could possibly get a coolant overflow cap? Can't find one for the life of me! | |

| the pull-a-part junkyard crawl might be your best solution.
[ while you are at it, a spare junkyard reservior for $15 is good insurance, because our plastic riviera coolant tanks are living in a harsh envirement and they are made of an element in the periodic table named "Unobtanium" ]
the gm part number for the cap appears to be 25635870, which is discontinued.
they show up on eBay occasionally.
this plastic cap fits many older gm vehicles. here is a partial list from GM Parts Direct:
1993 Buick Roadmaster Limited 5.7L V8 - Gas 1993 Buick Roadmaster Base 5.7L V8 - Gas 1993 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon 5.7L V8 - Gas 1992 Buick Roadmaster Base 5.7L V8 - Gas 1992 Cadillac Allante Base 4.5L V8 - Gas 1992 Cadillac Allante Value Leader 4.5L V8 - Gas 1995 Cadillac DeVille Base 4.9L V8 - Gas 1994 Cadillac DeVille Base 4.9L V8 - Gas 1993 Cadillac Eldorado Base 4.9L V8 - Gas 1992 Cadillac Eldorado Base 4.9L V8 - Gas 1992 Cadillac Eldorado Touring 4.9L V8 - Gas 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Base 5.7L V8 - Gas 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham 5.7L V8 - Gas 1993 Cadillac Seville Base 4.9L V8 - Gas 1993 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6L V8 - Gas 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic 5.0L V8 - Gas 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic LS 5.0L V8 - Gas 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic LTZ 5.7L V8 - Gas 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic 4.3L V6 - Gas
i have a spare reservior cap with a broken retainer ring. you can have it as a temporary fix.

| Yes, I have crossed referenced those parts from my local auto part store, and I can assure you that they are totally different. For some reason they are smaller than the one I need and also made of rubber instead of plastic. If you would like to sell that cap I would be more than willing too purchase it! I have a rag stuffed in there at the moment and I just don't like the way it looks plus, quote me if i'm wrong but, from what I remember that tank is pressurized. | |

| update: i discovered a good-condition cap for the 8th gen riv's plastic coolant reservoir. you can have it no charge. send your address by private message.
the reservoir is not pressurized. the radiator cap allows excess coolant (caused by expansion of liquid when hot) to flow into the plastic tank. then, whenever the engine is turned off long enough to cool down, mr. vacuum and the radiator cap together allow coolant from the plastic reservoir to be drawn back into the radiator, thus topping off the closed cooling system.
