Found a 1979 DIESEL Riviera for sale....low miles, one owner etc... Considering buying it to pamper, baby etc.. Drive up and down Woodward Avenue for Dream Cruise (I live in Detroit). I'm concerned about an old GM diesel though??? Should I be? Any advice appreciated!! Thanks

Those diesel 350's can push about 750 hp with the right parts and all. Its a big body though, and parts for any riviera are almost non exisitant

Keep an eye on the pre '82 diesels, GM took an 8.5:1 compression engine to 22.5:1 and didn't increase the amount of head bolts they used! Those engines were prone to blowing head gaskets. Sold the one out of my '80 Electra fot a boat anchor I believe?
Don't get me wrong they are nice cars, just a shakey engine with the diesel.
