The control arms differ between 95 and 98. And 97 ( a one-off). So AFAIK the 95 struts wont fit a 98 without other work.

I've no idea whether Unity struts are any good, nor any idea who actually makes them. Looking at the company web site, none of the personnel are involved with manufacturing. They have component assembly and packing. https://unityap.com/

Huh.  Maybe you should drop Rock Auto a line anyway and let them know what happened.

I did make an attempt. They rejected my advise and complaint. As an online only store, they have no phone number. I used the "report a problem" link. My order has now been flagged as "not returnable" leaving no other avenue to draw attention. I could write a letter and mail it but I suspect there is no one employed there to read paper mail.

Well, "A" for effort then. I'm glad you found a fix.

No, the outlet nipple can't be replaced per say. It is cast aluminum as is the whole housing for the pump.

It would be easier and cheaper to just get a pump from a Pick and Pull junk yard or elsewhere, that you know works.

I had a problem with the air compressor on mine when I bought the car and it was all related to corroded cast aluminum.

I replaced the pump and never had to touch it again. Other than changing the intake filter on it a couple of times. Just preventive maintenance. When I did that I would spray the pump down with anti-corrosion fluid.
Specifically ACF-50. Had a few cans from one of my previous jobs.
ACF = Anti Corrosion Fluid.

It's used in aircraft and many other applications. Available on the web. I think Amazon might even sell it. Before each winter here in the Northeast, where they use way to much salt on the roads in the winter, I would have the undercarriage cleaned then bring it to a friend that had a lift and spray the whole underbody of the car.

He moved away several years ago so my car ended up rotting from the bottom up.
